Has anyone got the faintest idea on what ground grading criteria will be in place for division 1 next year? Rumour I have heard is that to remain in division 1 clubs will need lights. No doubt the league will respond with the usual "we're bound by the FA, we don't know ourselves", any clues anyone ?

I believe that the following is required:

Grass pitch

Floodlights

Tunnel for players to get on the pitch from the changing rooms

Seperate changing facilities for female officials

5000 seat main stand with corporate boxes

Bovril

Electronic coin/note operated turnstiles

TV Gantry

Press Office

Undersoil heating

You need a 'G' grade. Same as you've needed since the FA started the whole national grading system three or four years ago. Last season the FA told all the leagues that the 'F' grade must be enforced at step 5 (CCL prem) and that teams without the grading should be relegated ahead of those who finished in the normal relegation spots. This season it's alleged the FA have told leagues to enforce the 'G' grade for step 6 (CCL 1). I would have thought, if that's the case, that the leagues would have told all the affected clubs. Best check with your secretary and/or the CCL commitee to see if they are enforcing it at the end of the season.

The thing is, at least the way I understand it, - leagues don't have to relegate every club without the correct grade. F'rinstance - in CCL1 there at least ten teams without the grading but league rules state only two can be relegated each season so the two lowest teams without the grading should be relegated. However, as CCL1 is one team short, they'll need three teams to get promoted or switch leagues at the end of this season in order to relegate two. If only two apply to join and get in then only one will go down, if only one applies then no-one will go down.

Or something. As I said, that's my understanding of the situation but you really should check with the league!

The 'G' grading can be found here
