Training in Strood

Once again.

The Club do not have a mini bus. It belongs to the Margate Learning Zone which takes priority, allowing the club/supporters use the bus on Tuesday evenings when by design the lessons finnish early.

On this day it is used to take the reserves to games, also supporters to matches, when not clashing with reserve games.

On Saturdays and Sundays it is also availible because MLZ does not operate on these days at the moment.

I think could be a worry as this could be the start of local boys unable to get there?

Local boys have been given the chance, with exception of Cliff they are not good enough

Yea sorry Graeme, I stand corrected. Surely Robinson falls into same category as Sammy?

Robinson falls into the catagary of "the rubbish defence" that played last year, also from the manager "we can't defend." The time for sentiment has come to an end. Its time to get tough before its to late.

I agree Robinson does seem to have some daft defending moments but he also puts in lots of tackles and is an asset with his attacking skills too IMO. (yesterday proved a point for those who saw it).

As I said in another post MB knows that the real problem is centre of defence but his hands are tied by players not wanting to travel down to Margate to play.

We will see

I am and always be a great supporter of reserves and youth(oops not know politically correct), young persons football. It is not given that reserve players have a right to play at that level or, any automatic right to be in the first team squad. You only proceed to that level if you are thought by management to warrant the up grade from the u18's or are brought in on the word to or sight of the manager from other clubs. No one is the given right to be anywhere in this world, you have to want it to work to the best of your ability for it and, have to prove to the management that you deserve the position.

My challenge to the lads is go out there and perform, work their socks off for the club and themselves, show the Management and the fans that you really want it. If not then play on Sundays.

My other bug bare is some of the youngsters are playing to much football. You cannot maintain the proper fitness level without becoming stale .

I have other worries, but these I will not air on here but with the relevant person. suffice to say I agree with Derek.

One more thing I know most of the reserves are pals, and a lot go to school together, which is great to a point But, this is the real world, friends are for Saturday nights, being there if you have problems and sharing the good times, not for your work place. This is the real world.

I agree Curtis is a good lad. I like the Kid and he has done well up to know. Some of his runs yesterday out of defence......He is capable of a lot more. He has to want to work hard on his fitness/game and, take that next step forward.

How many of the reserves have the potential to step up. At the moment I would say perhaps 4. If only 2 go on to make it make it then, to my mind that's a good return.

Sammy is very promising. As much as it would be great to concentrate on bringing the kids through we won't get anywhere - other than Ryman South - without extra quality. Shame, but Strood is only 45min up the road, not a million miles away and not much further than Dover or Whitstable or wherever else Thanet lads ply their trade elsewhere. We need to get back to the days of striving for promotion.

Get that buzz back and people will want to be part of it.
