The cold end has recently written about classic 90's away days at Torquay United, Bromsgrove Rovers and Sutton United which promoted a discussion on Saturday about other glory trips following Enfield FC and Enfield Town FC. Preston NE, Chesterfield, Kidderminster in the Trophy, Barrow in the Trophy 88, Leyton Orient, Ilford in our Essex Senior Championship season when Ulatowski got a hat-trick were all discussed as were Horror Trips with Matlock Town, Horwich RMI, Hillingdon Borough (FA Cup last year) and the Runcorn 9-0 game coming up in conversation.

If you want to write about a trip that sticks in your memory for whatever reason be it an FA Cup classic away trip or a midweek trip to Staines Town in the Middlesex Senior Cup the cold end would love to hear from you. Lets keep the memory of the old kings of non-league football going!!! Even classic games at Southbury Road can be included.

Cant remember enough to post a match report but spent a totally depressing day at Alma Swanley many years ago, lost 1-0 on a roped off park pitch, that would be the lowlight. The all time favorite game was the FAC win at Barnet 7-0. Happy days indeed although the trophy final replay at WBA was a jolly fine evening.

The funniest had to be away to Hayes in around 1995. The ball went off for a throw in and Fruitbat leaned over to get the ball. He toppled over the boundary fence to the delight of both home and away fans. He then decided to do it again and throw himself over promptly cutting his face!!! Oh happy days!!!

The double header over the weekend. Barrow and then accross the moors to Scarborough.

Blyth Spartans away at Newcastle.

Blyth Spartans away at Blyth

Alvechurch away

Eastwood Town away

And Highgate United. Tony Allden should always be remembered. He was only playing football.

The most memorable match I can remember on the travels was the top of the table away league at Weymouth in mid-week in the mid 80's. We were wearing yellow 2-0 down at half time and had Carl Richards sent off too. After suffering the half time p1ss taking from the home support we tok control of the game, resulting in getting a 2-2 draw, one of there players being sent off and walking back to the 52 seater to the tune of 'Maybe its cos i'm a londoner'. It was the match I nicked a tea pot from the service station as used it as a puppet like talking mechanism to annoy there keeper.

Those were some very memorable trips and i'd like to add to the list if i may.

The long trip up to Bishop Auckland for a trophy game standing on the 200 tier terrace

The 2 trips to Merthyr in a week having snowball fights with the locals, the coach breaking down at the services and not forgetting burger master

Finally not forgetting Saints last minute winner away at Stevenage

Had a good read of the Cold End blog. Great read! To all the games mentioned I would add the final day of the season at Yeovil with Enfield. The game that ended in a Graham Roberts influenced pitch invasion by their supporters as we failed to win the league on goal difference. Won't forget the surge from the other end of the ground as a tide of green ran towards us to gloat. A corner flag missed me and bottles were an unpleasant distraction.

I remember that and as they ran towards us I very quickly left.

I will never forget an Away League Cup tie at Cove in the mid-90's when I had to film the match from on top of a corrugated iron roof in a thunderstorm and Fruitbat bellowed out from way behind the goal: 'What's that brown stain on your trousers, Laurence ?' !

I think the attendance at that match was only about 150, but as Fruitbat's comment echoed around the ground, every single one of them looked up at me and laughed.

Another thing I remember about that match was the inebriated P.A. announcer trying to read out the team line-ups before the kick-off.

According to him, Enfield's line-up included Al-James Hornigan, John Ride-out, Martin St. McClair, Marco Welsh, and several others that had the supporters in hysterics.
