Gate vs Cray

I'm delighted you had such a lovely day out, BB. However, for some of us, the result is not the most important thing - it is the ONLY thing.

As I have stated any times before I go to football for the following reasons (and in this order)

1) To see a game of football.

2) To enjoy the company of fellow footall lovers.

3) To partake in friendly banter with missrable old s0d.

And after that the team I support wins great .

thank you "Coffin Ender". You must live in a world of constant dissapointment. If winning is the only reason to watch football or any other sport.

\listening to the managers comments after the game on wellsies as usual excellent report(creeping) I hope we are not going to go down the road of paying for success again. As for the comment made by people about Curtis. no comment.

It was interesting when looking into the players faces as they came of the pitch to our applause, you could tell by their expressions which ones were hurting and, the ones that were not over bothered. Both the local kids were devistated. Lessons learned?

Sorry but I agree with Grahame too. It was a very entertaining game, and although very disappointed, there were a lot of positives, to take from it. To Chelsea boy, sorry but you really are talking rubbish. MB has made vast improvements already, he cannot help the players that he has inherited.

So am guessing you won't be at the next game CE? Sunday was just one of those games, Jack Smelt won't ever have a game like that again I am sure, if we had won 6-3 everyone would probably be saying how wonderful we were I bet.

Cray are a poor team. They've done the double over us. If you want entertainment go to the movies.

I pay my 9or 10 pounds to be entertained. If you don't enjoy watching a GAME of football then why bother to at all.

If you find it so excruciatingly painful then i suggest a trip to the local bdsm service, at least you will be in the warm.

F()cking typical Margate fans attitude. ' I don't go for the result I go for the game, to meet others blah blah blah blah blah f()cking blah!!" Yeah that is a part of it but so much disappointment seems to have been ingrained into some and it is now just a social club. It's a poor attitude that seems to run through the club. I want to see my team win every game regardless. I'd rather go to a game on my own and see the team WIN rather than just have a nice social gathering and lose. We really need to start wanting it and find the will to win again.

Typical Northener attitude to win at all costs, stuff the entertainment I can get that by kicking seven bells out of a weak defenceless yellow and black insect.

PS Horney have you seen how well Athletic are doing this season with no Johnny Foreigners.

Of course I want both. I want to see Margate win every game. I want to see Margate move up the leagues and pushing hard for a football league place. BUT for my average £20 a game after add ons I want to be entertained. Winning and Entertainment is what we need to bring in the crowds.

Football like it or not is entertainment, a mixture of sport and show biz. Winning / entertaining = increased revenue= more money for wages= better players= climbing the leagues= more revenue from Admission charges, increased sponsorships = if managed properly= Happiness for all.

I also have a feeling that life at Margate with MB and SB is going to be entertaining one way or another.

Just got back from the game so thought i'd add my twopennyworth.

Biggest irony for me is that from what i've seen and read-we had our most consistent performance of the season-played well in both halves for once, yet still lost-obviously because of the other consistency-individual defensive mistakes.

MB is obviously correct-our defending is woeful (and has been since CK left 5 years ago ).

As i was advocating MB for manager even before Ashby was appointed;i am absolutely convinced that provided he is prepared to stick around he will be our best manager for many a long year.

That given-a couple of observations-yes our individual defending is poor, but MB selected the team on saturday-and most of us recognise that whilst Wheatley is a good defender-he invariably makes at least one catastrophic error per game. That was again the case on sunday.Did not MB recognise this. (plus the normally good Haverson catches the habit )

Was it his best ever management decision to play Haverson and wheatley together when he could have payed JK alongside Haverson. (morris can do that holding role adquately )Its easy to be wise post match-but we have seen these errors so often.(i still think he will be a very good defender though in time.

Whilst many may have an aversion to Jim Ward-he is a decent manager and there was obviously a reason that JIM Ward did not play Wheatley much in ryman south.

Maybe MB took a bit of an unecesaary gamble ?

Again-easy to be wise post game-but was it MBs best ever decision to sub Blackman.Ok -he had just got booked-but i got the impression that after already putting Joseph on,the subsequent sub of Clarke for Blackman was a step too far.

Its ok when two goals up-but to me-a bit of a risk removing a senior player and captain when drawing !Arguably-it was to 'inject pace'-but how effective was pace going to be on a sticky pitch. Thus you end up with juniors in the centre of defence and juniors in the centre of attack-mmmm !Again for me-not his best decision of the week.Again-easy in hindsight-but would it have been better just to accept-its not our day,and shut up shop for a 2-2 draw and take a point away from home. (MB had already recognised that we looked like conceding all the time so why not put JK at the back,Morris/Duncan in midfield and slow the game down and take the point.

I recallFrom oneor two of MB's early statementa-i rember posting that whilst i totally reckon he is one of best mangers in non league,i have a slight concern he is a bit gungho and had a slight fear of returning to the Trott days of we'll concede 4 every game so we'll go and score five (which of course never happened )

I assume MB was responsible for releasing Lewis-and ok he may not have been expecting Harwood to go-but would it have been an idea to get Harwood totally singed up before even contemplating releasing Lewis (knowing that Young and smith were injured )

Yes-the defending is awful,

yes-smelt had a good game(not as great imo as many people suggest-just good and did his job well on the day),

Yes MB will become a great Margate manager ,

But on this occasion-does he also need to ask himself if he made the right team selection in defence;and the right substitution decisions later on in the game

I think Wheatley has far more potential than Haverson. As for JK, he has given away goals recently, so he was not an obvious solution.

See we can agree on one thing "Coffin Ender". The best thing for Luke in my humble opinion is to have a rest of season loan spell at a "decent" Ryman 1 club.
