Gate vs Cray

Just back and we should have won this game by half time. In fact we had two guilt edged chances in the first 10 minutes We dominated most of the match and had it not been for their keeper we could have had six or seven. At the end of the match he was applauded off by the Margate supporters. However MB must now make a defender (or two) his priority. We are woefully lacking at the back and look like conceding every time the opposing teams go forward. There was some great football played out there today in very wet conditions and I thought that all the player put i 100%. Cray are poor and will probably be around the bottom at the end of the season but they turned us over which shows how far we still need to go. At 2-1 up we were cruising and looked like we were going on to increase our tally, but 10 minutes of poor defensive mistakes and we were suddenly 3-2 down. Very disappointing and a very unhappy trip home for the fantastic turnout of gate fans who made the journey, once again a good 50 or so supporters.

I bet you wish the match had been called off. Still, bring on Harrow B.

Great report margateshot. If we defend like this week in week out we are relegated no matter how good our attack has become. WE CANNOT DEFEND TO PARK STANDARD LET ALONE RYMAN.

lOVELY FORWARD PLAY.

Magnifecent goalkeeping which we dont have.

Useless defenders.

IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR A VERY LONG TIME NOW.. MB HAS US PLAYING GOOD FOOTBALL BUT IT COUNTS FOR NOUT WITH DEFENDING LIKE THIS.

You can blame him or him it doesnt matter there is no one there who can defend the simplest ball. Cray now win all the last three games against us. So disappointing for a great turnout of Gate fans.

I have to agree with Geoff, all three Cray goals down to some unbelievable defending. The only way we'll win games is by scoring more than we concede, as on this display we ARE going to concede. Goodness only knows where the next clean sheet will come from, also - though he was not to blame for the goals, I don't think we've found our keeper yet! I would say MB has to be ruthless in pruning the defence and rebuilding with some experience.

On the positive side, there was a lot more 'passing to feet' and we created plenty of goal chances, we could have scored five or, if luck were on our side six or seven.

We really need Dan Young back, and some experience to add to the defence.

Mark Butler audio interview coming up soon. He's is very clear about why we lost this game.

Another result that points to a manager who to my mind is just another stop gap, till we find a real one, or we take the gamble and appoint a local, who has at least has his heart on his sleave.

I think the board should have a real think.

This is a club not a HOBBY.

I hope we stay up.

Disagree. In fairness the boss inherited a squad of poor players (with a couple of exceptions) who are sitting on contracts. I'll judge him when he brings his own players in. From what I've seen and heard he will turn it round, but I appreciate that getting players to join us is probably tougher than it was at Ashford, would you believe. Purely down to location. Time the players here now proved they're good enough to play in the Ryman Prem.

I wasn't there today but the defending is park standard at best sometimes. People are roaming around aimlessly, not clearing their lines, not talking. The whole defence seems scared to open their mouths. Time it was shaken up. TY did have the right idea when he brought in Ben Lewis, except his back had gone and he could barely move! We need some experience back there but it would be nice if they can run.

Number one target for me would be Matt Bourne at Sittingbourne.

Haverson, Lacy and Robinson - thank you and goodbye.

Robinson???? Im sorry but i have to disagree with you there - he has been one of our best players and has won MOTM more times than I can remember.

Spoke to MB yesterday, he said tried to get 3 defenders this last week but two of them just didn't want to travel, and that in a nut shell is his main problem because we wont pay silly wages anymore.

Why Jeremy? I returned home having been entertained in what for the neutral, (as were the Bromley fans who turned up to watch) a good game of at times, end to end football. We all , manager included, learned a lot about our team both its strengths and its weaknesses. I agree, bring on Harrow B. Knowing( Via Wellsey) what MB as learned from the Cray game the team will be stronger for it.

onwards and upwards.
