RESULTS 28TH NOVEMBER

Recommended Posts

Tring Athletic 2-1 Kingsbury London Tigers

KLT had the best of the first half and some good chances. They took a deserved lead just before half time when the smallest man on the pitch headed home a corner.

Tring came out and played much better in the second half although a KLT winger should have converted a guilt edged chance but went for power & skied the ball over. As often happens Tring equalised within a minute. Tony Field equalised and Bret Cort scored a header from a corner for the winner shortly after (bottom 2 pictures on the link below) Can't see Kingsbury staying in their lowly position when they catch up on their games in hand. They face Aylesbury Royston & Hanwell in their next 3 games & shouldn't be underestimated

Anagram Records Feeder Leagues Trophy 2nd Round

1 4 MK Wanderers v London Lions

A report on this affair from another's Forum:

MK Wanderers 1 London Lions 4

Anagram Records(Feeder Leagues)Trophy 2nd Round

An entertaining match between SSML newboys MK Wanderers and Herts County League table toppers London Lions.

The visitors scored after two minutes and had two more goals disallowed for ofside before scoring a second on 34 minutes. After a couple of substitutions at half-time the homesters came back into the match with a goal on 58 minutes but within two minutes LL scored again before adding a fourth with five minutes to go.

London Lions surprisingly had no substitutes which for a team top of their league and with ambitions to be in the SSML next season is strange. Also they played in an Oldham Athletic kit, a very luminous yellow which is the same shade as my hi-visible jacket I wear when riding my bike. Also very useful on a grey afternoon in November!

Kents Hill is a basic venue with a rope down one-side and a low barrier behind the goal where the dressing room complex is situated. There is a decent overhang from the complex which would provide cover from the elements if needed.

A programme was issued and sold for a donation. Also hot drinks and food were available.

I think the SSML management committee should confiscate the teapot used for the half time drinks in the Aston Clinton dressing room and send it away for analysis. Something had definitely been added by the management team! ;)

Much more than the first!

It turned out to be a really good afternoon's entertainment. Your lads played some really good football. Eventually!

If they can keep that up for the rest of the season you should be there or thereabouts come May.

It was good to meet you, and I'll definitely try and catch some more of your games this season.

Sjj2112 - So you were at Aston Clinton yesterday then, no wonder you didn't leave home until about 12.30. I still don't think Aston Clinton are the team they were when Paul Tompkins was with the Club, Risborough Rangers are fourth from bottom yet they managed to score three goals against the best defence in the division

Oh and funny enough they scored 3 past Berko as well, as said before Paul has gone so get over it.

Yes but Berkhamsted have conceded 19 this season compared to Aston Clinton's impressive 14 so conceding three yesterday against an ordinary Risborough Rangers side is poor

But then people don't really care what you think.

It was definitely a game of two halves. In the first Aston Clinton were absolutely awful and were lucky to go in level, they could easily have been 3 down. In the second half they were a changed side and I can see why they have been beating teams from higher divisions.

Yes the visitors scored 3 goals, but 2 of those goals were speculative shots from way outside the box. Some go in, some go miles over or miles wide.

Unless you were at the game you are in no position to comment on the relative merits of the teams involved.

Rhodes- Paul has gone and none of his players were good enough as I'm sure he would admit. So sorry can't see how him being here would have made any difference. Unless you mean he could play centre back?

Sjj2112 - I'm surprised you didn't add that Aston Clinton were as sick as parrots at half time and over the moon at full time, for what it's worth I think Berkhamsted and Padbury United will finish above Aston Clinton this season however Padbury v Aston Clinton on 28 December will be a key game and should draw a big crowd

what do you call a big crowd? 4?

A bloke who can hold his birthday party in a telephone kiosk thinks that anything over 4 needs crowd control.
