Picked this up from the Non League Daily Rag or whatever it's called...

The Canaries are entering the World Class Homes Senior Reserve League.

Other teams in this league will be: Broxbourne Borough, Cheshunt, Hertford, Hoddesdon, Potters Bar, St.Albans, St.Margaretsbury, Sawbridgeworth and Ware.

Are we playing in this as well as the E&HBC or has the competition been renamed to the above?

Rob

HKS is indisposed just now ... I'm sure he'll tell you about it, but I also spotted this in the Review last night.

I am assured that the reserves are in the E&HBC Premier League next season. Interest was shown in Senior Reserve League but was shelved in preference of stiffer competition... Canvey, Grays, Hornchurch etc.

Needs sorting pretty quick though if there is confusion. We don't want to start the season with a fine .... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Hi Rob, not quite sure what's going on here, but I'll tell you what I know.

We did originally express an interest in joining the Herts Reserve League. There were a couple of reasons for our interest, firstly, we were told that a lot of the Senior clubs in Herts were interested in entering it, Stevenage, BWood, Hitchin (?) etc. And secondly to cut down on the travelling.

However when we were sent the proposed consitution, the only 'big' club were Hitchin, the rest are refugees from the E & H and the South Midlands reserve division. Another issue was that as there are only a small number of clubs, 10/ 11 I think, it was proposed that we play each other 3 times. Not ideal.

We felt that moving leagues at this stage would not provide any benefit whatsover. No disrepect to anyone, but we wanted/ needed stronger opposition if the boys are to progress. It's very little use winning 6 or 7 nil, no one learns anything. I'd rather go to Canvey and lose 1 nil; and get something from the game. In this way at least everyone is tested, the management, the players, even the officials. Hence we decided to stay where we are, in a much stronger league, despite the travelling.

To cut a long story short, the Herts league were none too pleased when we didn't take up the offer of entry. I don't know the details, but Mr Secretary can probably help when he returns from sunnier climes. However, we will be trying to clear this up in his absence, as Mr Caretaker says we don't want to start with a fine.
