Slough Town 2-0 Bedworth United

Thoroughly professional performance I'd say today against team that came here clearly looking to get a point. with 10-mean behind the ball, or hopeful of nicking a winner on the counter.

Not a classic, but in those conditions it was never going to be. However you felt we were in control of the match despite them hitting the bar and having a five minute spell first-half and some pressure when we were 2-0 up.

The players found it hard first-half as they played one-up front, packed the midfield with their fullbacks hardly crossing the half-way line and two of their central midfielders holding even when they were in attacking positions.

We had to be patient and were and eventually broke them down. Was really impressed with Sean Sonner. Thought he may be what were missing up front, a goal threat and energy. In some ways kind-of like Craig O'Connor with the way he plays, but looks more likely to score. Very different to what we have already. Could have had a hat-trick today.

Also thought that Chris Herron had a very good match and the back four look to be getting back to what they were at the start of the season. As for their goalkeeper he's on loan from Aston Villa apparently. I wonder if today was just one of those days for him.

Well done Rebels!

Yes, was very clear that Bedworth came for a point with lots of men behind the ball. Perks made one breathtaking save at 0-0 just before they hit the bar and I thought we struggled in the first half. Once we got the first goal (very well taken by Sinclair) we were ok. Felt a bit sorry for their keeper who only had one save to make. Thought Harper had another tremendous game for us today.

I thought we played well overall today, but there were a few shaky and frustrating moments. Good to pick up another 3 points and it feels very good to see Slough 2nd in the league!

Hard to pick out a MOTM, as I thought the whole team played quite well. Special mentions to Harper, Sinclair and Sonner, who did very well on debut, put himself around very well and injected some pace and looked very useful upfront.

Looking forward to going to Aylesbury, nothing less than a win will do against a team that has only won one this season.

Come on you Rebels! Well done today lads, keep it up!

I thought that was a very comfortable win against an average side. Bedworth could have scored a couple in the first half but showed little in the second. Slough were always on top and I always felt it was only a matter of time before we scored. When we did, we should really have killed the game off with a couple more.

Sonner looks to give us something different - he's pacy and a bit of a livewire up front. He deserved his debut goal and was unlucky not to have scored another two. Dean Harper really is a man on form at the moment too. Sinclair looks to be getting back to his form pre-injury and also Ricky Perks had a decent game - he looked so comfortable plucking crosses out of the air and his kicking seemed better. Avis looks a capable player having broken into the team, had another good game today and on another day his scuffed effort would have hit that massive divot and gone in under the crossbar instead of flying over!

Up to second now (by one goal) and Aylesbury United next. We really must win this one as they've only picked up three points and they were against SYCOB. Also I noticed this on their website about their 6-1 defeat today - let's hope Tommy Hayes is fit to play then! ;)

Yet the home side never looked on a par with some of the better sides in the league, it was the greens inability to defend - particularly from set pieces - that did the damage.

Subsequently five of the six came from corners or free kicks, with former Duck Glen Hawkins netting twice, the first after just two minutes.

Here at "geeks r us" based on the data from Rebels Online there are no home leauge runs of 7 wins on the bounce - data goes back to 01/02 season.

The closest records are the 11 home games without defeat of 23-11-02 to 18-03-03 and 10-01-04 to 1-05-04 where each of these runs contained 8 wins with 3 draws mixed in.

Can anyone go back further?

SR, the official site are currently working through a massive project and listing results and line ups since 1889 when we had our first game.

Last time it happened was 1989/90 at the end of the season. Seven home league wins on the bounce (6th Mar - 14th Apr) were followed up with two at the start of the Conference season.

Best home league winning streak is 14 done in April - December 1951 and we've twice managed 13 (Dec 1920 - Jan 1922 and April 1964 - April 1965)

Totally agree Ian and I was having the same conversation with Chris during the game. Given we have to announce all our season ticket holders regardless of their attendance at the game (as per the leagues request), our numbers are inflated. I think we only had about 150 in attendance on Tuesday night and given our home record and decent performances, personally I'm disappointed we're not pushing 300 or above.

I agree we should be getting more through the gates, but we still topped the division attendance yesterday and our attendance was the second best in the whole of the Southern League (including Premier and S&W). It's not just us. Sadly were paying the price for not being based in Slough and having our own home, and the fact we've won very few games over the last few seasons up until this season. Lets be honest apart from this and last season we had pretty much a Sunday league side for two-seasons which did not help so anyone who watched during this period. They would have been well put-off!

Would be good to get some more schemes going with local schools like we did at the Rothwell game and making it a regular thing, after all most of us grew to support the club after going to games either with local schools/clubs or with our parents.

A lot of teams attendances are not good. Boreham Wood yesterday in a higher division only had about 80, and Maidenhead's average attendance in Conference South would probably be around the same as ours, if not less if it was not for away teams bringing fans with them in the division.

Wahey!! Was waiting for that!

I think alot of clubs around here suffer from the fact its so easy to go into London to watch premiership football aswell as the fact alot of people have moved to the area and alot of local people have moved away. Less and less people are born and raised Windsorians who still live in windsor and i'm guessing the same in Slough?

Besides...Windsor is a rugby town and Slough is an Ice Hockey town is it not?
