Striker signs on loan for the Rebels

From the Slough Observer.

SLOUGH Town have signed exciting striker Sean Sonner on loan for a month from Boreham Wood. The Rebels have not tested the keeper in the last two matches which have both resulted in defeat with Steve Bateman's troops firing blanks.

"I've acted on in quite quickly," said the boss about their lack of goals. "I've signed Sean Sonner from Boreham Wood. Sean is a lad I've tracked going back to my time at Hemel, he was scoring a lot of goals in South Midlands football and then for Northwood when Boreham Wood acted quickly to snap him up. He finds himself down the pecking order at the moment because Boreham Wood have been on a great run whilst he has been injured and he has been unable to get back in. Sean is very highly rated there but not in the side, I asked (manager) Ian (Allinson) whilst we were there. I had a conversation with Dennis Fennemore at the 11th hour but he had already committed to Burnham. I have been putting feelers out and I'm delighted to get Sean for a month. He's a young Garry Sippets, he gets on the end of things and can finish. He does well in the air for his size and he is quick and direct. He will be eligible for tonight (Tuesday evening's home clash with Bromsgrove Rovers), it's all signed we just need to fax it off. I'm hoping we might be able to extend it but that will be down to Ian but it should benefit everyone. With Leon Hibbert, Corby recalled him because of an injury but Boreham Wood have got four strikers but we shall see how it goes."

It's good that Steve has gone and acquired another striker and I wish him well and hope he helps us move up the table but we need fit players coming into the side not players who we are helping to get match fit for their main clubs.

I understand that Steve has a budget to work to and that to get a striker who is inform and scoring would be impossible to prise away from any club during this part of the season.

Oh what to have Ian hodge and Tony Boot back in our ranks.
