Stewarding on saturday

From the little i saw on saturday-i think credit should go to the stewards-collectively and individually -plus the club for organising (and paying?) for the stewarding.

 

Just shows how a harmless environment could turn nasty in just a few seconds. (which fortunately it did'nt )

 

It did seem that a few of the wealdstone supporters (and one ot two margate ones) were becoming increasingly frustrated and impatient and were venting their spleen unfairly and unjustifiably at wellsie in particular and a few others.

I think the mere presence of what seemed quite a large stewarding contingent (probably because we were all at one end ) helped keep things in hand;and credit to them for simply 'standing by' and being noticed -without wading in uneccessarily.

Seemed to be in right places at right time-including looking after the officials .

Seemed quite well trained which is more than you get at most clubs at this level.

 

It could have got out of hand though and maybe just shows how even at this level-stewarding is necessary as you never know what will happen next.

 

Credit to all-including MFC for ensuring the right numbers of stewards and right attitude of stewards seemed to be in evidence.

Let's be honest, the reason trouble was avoided was because the club decided to offer refunds (which goes against their own ground regulations). As it was only about 30 people decided to take up the offer. However, what if this had happened against a team who had brought hundreds of fans? Dartford, for example? Would we have offered refunds then?

i would imagine that you are entitled to your money back by law as you have not had what you have paid for

And reg 2 states that play cannot be guaranteed .

 

Not withstanding the above worthy replies,and that threads go in all directions ,may i respectfully bring the thread back to the main theme which was my praise of the stewarding and all those associated with it

Agreed Michael, I have helped out last season when stewards were away etc and I believe credit must go to Peter Cove for his input on match days, he certainly knows how to organise things.
