Time to slit your wrists?

Well not yet!

With Slough on the dizzy total of 22 points from 12 games it is still by far the best start to a season in recent years - only 04-05 comes close with 18 points from 12 games.

Yet there are the doom mongers around moaning about results - well its only a game dear!

How many would have bit my hand off if I offered 22 points from 12 games at the start of the season? - well I would have!

Yes there are a couple of areas of the team which could do with an extra body here and there, but overall it is a solid team.

With 10 more games up to and over the holiday period, we could start January safe from relegation - when did that last happen? - how many times have we ended up in a relegation position recently?

I think the frustration is down to a lack of consistancy and SB needs to look at this to make the team really tick.

So put away the knife and remember you have more jam on your toast than you think!

That post could only have been made by someone who didn't see the Atherstone game!

Have to agree with Clive ..for once ..and I understand where Ian was coming from , but come on lads and lasses ! this is the best start we have had for years and I am sure SB will get it right again ...Yes Ian I was not there , however I am sure it was on par with some of the games we had played in the last few seasons..

I know we can do better and Have shown enough promise this season to keep above the relegation zone...and maybe a chance to get into the play off still..I undertand we need to improve..lets see over the next 5 or so games where we are heading....keep the faith...

cheers chris

I understand that, Chris, but I'm putting this into the context of supposedly much better players this season and a manager that's done it before. What I saw on Saturday was as bad as anything over the last couple of years when you consider the ability of the players that were out there. I'm looking forward to the management and players putting it right although I can't be there tomorrow unfortunately.

If I had gone to Atherstone then the post may well have been different.

But sometimes you have to take a step back and look at the situation from a different perspective.

There have been a number of terrible performances this season - Uxbridge springs to mind, where I had to appologise to an Uxbridge fan for the last minute goal we scored when the game should clearly have been theirs.

However there have been some stunning games where we could well have had double figure scores.

As said in the original post, it is consistancy that is required - last year we were consistantly bad!

The team we have should have the skills to be consistantly good, and that is why fans are getting touchy since the recent spell of poor performances.

This is Slough Town we are taling about, and we dont support Slough Town because it is easy!?!?

If Steve Bateman had been a lot less vocal,at the start of the season,in saying our team were definite promotion candidates, then maybe we supporters would have settled for just finishing mid-table.However,because of the quality signings and the depth of the squad and Steve's optimism,I for one bought into our chances, of at least finishing in the top five and I still believe we can.

Now winter's kicking in, our free flowing football will suffer and injuries and Craig O'Connor departure certainly haven't helped. With Danny Jordan being unavailable and Elliot B./Paul E. injured and Tommy Hayes and Simon Martin, never appearing to make a good pairing up front, I hope we bring in a midfielder and a striker, maybe on loan, sooner rather than later, if we really are serious about challenging for a promotion/play off place.
