When are people going to listen to people like Arsene wenger, these friendlies are completely pointless and whenever we have them players from all nations get injuries

Lampard is out for a while because of international duties.

Someone like wenger knows 1000 times more about football than the idiots at the FA or UEFA/FIFA

Players are getting injured in these pointless games and they are risking burn out,its time to stop these pointless games.Fine,if a player gets injured during the season then you accept it but its hard to accept having players missing 2/3 months of a season for a pointless game, why do they have to play just because other teams have play off games, the reason the teams are playing play off games is because they were not good enough to qualify automatically.

I will laugh my self stupid if rooney breaks his leg in a pointless friendly a few months before the world cup and misses the tournament,or messi/ronaldo or any of the top players, perhaps then the relevant authorities will listen and realise the players are being asked to play too much football, but i doubt they will see beyond the cash and spreading the game to timbuktu et al

I concur to a point. Let's face facts, his injury could have occurred while jumping out of a lover's bedroom window when confronted by an irate husband, or on the training pitch. It does seem rather spooky that Arsenal seem to suffer from more serious long-term injuries than most and usually it fvcks up their season - as proven by the lack of Brasso purchased over the past five years.

And yes I agree that Wenger does tend to have a tad more nous re the game than 99 per cent of the Soho suits. But said suits will always chase the dollar.

Yesterday's game, officially Brazil's home match, proved a few points though.

Bradley Wrong-Phillips is what I always thought - totally one-dimensionally, over-rated and over-hyped by a gobby adoptive father and the person who thought that spending over £16m for Darren Bent was a good idea, is in need of some serious therapy.

Then again I presume that Jolene Lescott's agent had a sanity clause (no he is not real Treeboy :) ) written into his contract, when City forked out over £20m for his services.

Cappello knows his starting line up for Suid Afrika and all yesterday's object in futility achieved was a realisation that yet again we have no plans B or C.

The FA apparently received less than a quarter of the fee than that of Brazil and if it was an attempt to curry favour with that dodgy little Trinidadian sh!t (Jack Warner not Dwight Yorke), then it's probably doomed to failure - just as Manchester United playing in the World Club thingy nearly ten years ago (and sacrilegiously dropping out of the FA Cup) proved pointless.

To wish a broken leg on a player, just because one of your own was unfortunate to suffer, is poor fare Rob, and while there is the Wembley debt to repay, the FA will continue to take Mohammed to the mountain in a bid to pay it off.

PS: They can take the game to Timbuktu if they like, but Mali are still crap and finished behind Ghana and Benin in World Cup qualifying.

with regards to the broken leg,i do not wish it on rooney,he is one of our stars, but it seems that unless a world cup soon is without the best players because of injury and burn out then this problem will carry on.

Wembley stadium is just another problem with english football,it was a complete farce the final cost, but that lies partly with the government.

And his injury could of happened next week at chelsea or indeed while bed hoping, but the fact of the matter is that it didn't,it happened in one of the pointless friendlies that these players have to play.

The clubs pay their wages, the players who want to play international pointless friendlies play them, those that don't cry off like the majority of englands team

I have no problems with players picking up injuries while on international duty when they are playing in qualifying games but friendlies while the season is underway are bloody silly.

surely the managers can see the players playing in competitive games rather than yesterdays farcical friendlies where half the players are just going through the motions.

I also think arsenals injuries are just bad luck rather than anything to do with the medical team at arsenal, upto about 3/4 years ago we hardly had any bad injuries,i think good luck then may of just caught up with us
