The potential of our club

Eastside Urchin

Recommended Posts

Just looking through the NLP and at various attendances from the FA CUp this season.

I noticed that wealdstone only had 1600 for their cup tie at home against rotherham united,no doubt rotherham would of brought down a few hundred

Also Northwich had only 2153 against charlton

Not mocking these figures but had we played either of these opposition,i would expect us to get 2500 plus against rotherham and 3500 capacity for charlton at home.

Just goes to show the potential this area has for football.

we were getting 17-1800 for games against conference sides 4-5 years ago

even 3 years ago we had over 1002 against welling at home and in the same season in the ryman one north we had 750plus against canvey and many gates well over 500,but we were winning every week which does obviously make a difference

Not forgetting their was 1300 fans at roots hall and out of those i would of said 1100 were from hornchurch

You have only ever hosted three Conference National sides in FA comps and only Burton (1,200) and Gravesend (1,600) had crowds that exceeded four figures. Here to help.. :signthankspin:

think you forgot stevenage coupy, seem to remember the crowd being around the 1700 mark,do remind us the last time romford had crowds this size, your last decent crowd of any note was about 500 or just over against us in 2004 and that was with us bringing at least half of the crowd down to rush green

Official crowd for the Stevenage game was 741 - they were the third side I hadn't mentioned. Surely not another case of Urchingate? And Rob, if you are so intent on facts then.... Romford v AFCHX December 2005 crowd of just over 400. We prefer quality to quantity.

Re the 1100 Chins who went to the ESC final... now I know a few things have gone missing in Area 51 over the years, but to lose 800 fans is just scandalous... :cheesy (2):

it was 1741 coup,must be a typo.

Anyway, back to romford, seems old fenny is losing the plot,he is now suggesting ethnic cleansing on the romford forum for all non romford fans, you couldn't make it up,especially only a few days after rememberance day!

My mission is complete,i think he has gone mad.Job done

Ok,400 at your gaff, pretty poor considering how many hornchurch were in the ground, unless you falsified the number which of course i am not accusing romford of doing.

There certainly is potential and yet it does not manifest itself in people coming to the ground for non glamour ties.

As soon as a league side hoves into view, they all want their faces on TV with their Hornchurch scarves on.

The following week they had all disappeared back to Upton Park or to watch Soccer Saturday on Sky.

I know what you are saying but i think we should still be averaging around 400-450 this level,at minimum is shouldn't be lower than 360-370

hornchurch/upminster together are the size of a very big town, similar in size to somewhere like hastings

Saying that, most clubs our size average 3-400 and when the fa cup comes to town they all have the same level of increase, but we seem to be able to fill 3000 plus whereas some others in our league and other leagues don't.

Whyteleafe got over 2,000 for our game against Chester every team gets big crowds every so often, but the hype goes and your attendances always go back down again, I judge potential on other things size of ground, size of area, size of fanbase etc We probably got more than northwich for our game against Chester, but it does'nt make us a bigger club than Norhwich.
