TURN AROUND! GAME OFF!

Yet again one ref says yes and another inspection is arranged for later on too keep fans holding on only to have it called off. Then again can't say i am suprised i would of banked it being off this morning.

I'm pretty sure the Ryman are cutting corners by having a game on then off and in fact sometimes even put it back on again.

Just to clear things up.

The pitch quite correctly passed an inspection at 11:30 am by Football League Referee Keith Yeo.

On the wishes of Billericay Town, we agreed for a late as possible inspection to give it every chance given the weather forecast of improving during the afternoon. Had the inspecdtion have happened at 9am as at Sutton United for example ...then the pitch was unplayable, but we worked on it and it was fit.

Everyone wants to play, fans want to watch etc .... We continued to work on the playing surface, and t 12:30 it was in good condition, as a couple of Billerciay people will tell you, having turned up themselves to take a look in the morning.

However at 12:40 the hevens opened for about 40 minutes, and unfortunately made the surface unplayable. Not questioned by anyone who was there and witnessed the downpour.

I caught the second half at Tilbury, as the crow flies 5 miles away .....and yes ...they didn't get the rain (non at all) around lunchtime.

Therefore I am not quite sure where some fans come from ......the only decision during ther morning was to call the game off ...if a definate decsion was required .....but if this is the case ...all games this time of the year would be called off ......when a pitch passes an inspection it only counts for thye surface at that time ....deteriating weather will always make decisions change further down the line.

Comparte it to when you have an MOT on your car and it passes for tyres ......drive off down the road, get nicked for bald tyres, and you try and talk your way out of a ticket ....ie. the early decison only stands for the time it is undetaken.

No one wanted the game off, we had to pay the match officials for travelling and half their match fee for doing nothing , the referee for the morning inspection, the burgers for the T Bar had to ber thrown, the matchday programme are worthless .......so all in all it was a costly day for my club, but unfortunately one we have to suffer as this is the world of Non League Football.

See you on the 30th ....old programmes and mouldy food will be our offering.

Thanks for the update Miller. We have been down that road ourselves, As most of the gang that worked their socks of during the snowy months of last year will tell ya. Shame we can't pay the officials in Burgers & Programmes eh.

See you on the 30th, I suppose theres no fear of you running out of Mouldy food by then

Cheers. I think we understand the situation. We all want to play and watch a game but the weather contrived against us. How on Earth that is the fault of the ref, I have no idea but some people can't do right for doing wrong. If there was someone to blame, blame Heltius for not doing his job and keep the sun shining...and Notus for the wind and the rain!!!
