Match report Croydon M.v Croydon

An excellent crowd turned up to watch the all Croydon clash at the Arena, however the kick off was delayed for 10 mins due to the Ref. wearing a green top, which clashed with the Croydon keepers.Normally the refs top clashes with Municipals shirts.Croydon started the better side and gave Municipal the runaround, with some neat passing play. However they lacked a finishing touch and could off been 3 up if they had taken them. They did however take the lead in the 24th minute,a good move was clinically finished by Nigel Ikolodo. Then in the very next minute they were to conceed,a free kick on the edge of their box was well struck by Ty Roberts,it hit the bar,the rebound was struck against the post, and rebounded out to Nana Agyei who finished with aplomb. This seemed to give Municipal added believe so it was game on,h/t time 1-1.The second half was a cracker as far as Municipal were concerned the tireless running Rea and Dalrymple up front,. caused Croydon no end of problems. And it was Rea who put Municipal ahead after a great throughball to Rea from Hines that he finished cooly. This goal however was the big turning point in this game,a Croydon player who had already been booked, remonstrated with the Ref and was given a second yellow, then a red.Municipal with their tales up now, started to boss the game with the extra man,Dalrymple showed calmness in Lobbing keeper Cupit, who was booked for his remonstrations to the ref.The final goal was a headed 20 yd pass from T.Fennessy that Rea beat keeper Cupit too,and lobbed it over him.The Ref was the best I have seen this season,However I was not at the end of ground, where many said that 2 of Municipals were definitely offside.

This is true they WERE offside and a neutral watchign the other side of the ground also agreed it.

Sadly the Ref failed to listen properly to players and sent off a player who was in the right. As was the keeper again booked.

Everyone I spoke to said the game was a 2-1 and 4-1 flattered them.

I wish the CM the very best in the next round.

I don't want to stir things up, but there's nothing in the rules about not sending off a player because he's 'right'... i.e. he may well have been correct, but presumably voiced this to the referee in a way that wasn't exactly polite, hence the red card?

Whether he was polite or not is one matter. Another match official who think he is immune to listening. We all see it week in week out. No matter what you say to them polite or not they do not listen and think that the players trying to con them.

I never defend a player for abuse to the official but why has it got this far?

I'm not just talking about this game but 1000s of game nationwide each week. Players booked for challenging a refs decision. There are so many occasions where a lineman flags, the ref ignores it and a goal is scored. Player complain andhtey get booked!

Am I right ?
