Romford at it again(bending the truth)

Last week a letter was sent in to the Romford Recorder by an alan fenn who goes on the romford forum by the same name.

I thought it was a decent letter apart from one aspect which stated that our ground is past its sell by date, this is wrong as certain clubs in the ryman prem and even conf south would like a well kept ground like us.

Anyway a couple of people wrote in to the recorder, one was obviously someone from the club or athletics club pointing out that we both maintain the ground, the bar is used for functions and the ground is used 7 days a week which it is for most of the year.

Alan fenn, then on the romford forum (link below) basically says what is wrote is a pack of lies although from what i see eveything written is the truth

As for the other letter,a matt church claimed to have come to the bridge last year and thought it drab and lacked atmosphere, don't know when he turned upm but i would guess it was when we had 3 foot of snow and no one was near the ground.Idiot

Just seems to me as usual that romford will bend the facts completely to get their own way

And as for jackie wood on their forum,it is funny how someone who only started watching the club a few weeks ago because their friend plays for the club seems to know so much about the club and its history.

Either she is zody in disguise or just the usual gobby romford tart

tbf to coupy,he tends to stay out of the politics most of the time.As gary has said on their forum a minute ago,it seems the fix they are after is basically at our expense.

I can see what they are doing, putting our home down to make the council think its worthless and then getting a new ground built from proceeds of any sale and uprooting us to romford, they just want us to play ball their way.

Not going to happen i am afraid. We could end up in the olympian league as far as i am concerned as long as we don't end up moving 5 miles from our home because of their faultless club.

They really do make me laugh with their attitude as if they are still the number one club in the borough(they don't even play in fecking havering)and we are poor little hornchurch down the road.

They comment on our current situation about the wrongs which have occured at our club in the last few years but seem to forget that they sold brooklands, went bust reformed, fcked collier row up,tried to take over at the bridge until more or less ejected and so on and so forth.

Even when they fcked up in the league cup years ago by playing a dodgy player they blamed the defeat on us attacking their keeper in a 50/50 ball

Small minded and insular.

A brave comment made by anyone, but this is what it appears to be when people mention our great stadium at Bridge Avenue. Currently occupied by Maryland Athletics Club and AFC Hornchurch.

A recent article in the Romford Recorder by a Mr Fenn suggests, the stadium should be sold off for housing, to then fund the building of a new Stadia for the benefit of Romford Football Club.

Sorry! has Mr Fenn lost the plot, since when do you sell the family silver to pay for a take away which is gone in sixty seconds.

The Inglebourne where the stadium is located is built on flood plains, that’s why they never built houses on it in the first place.

Now there appears to be no love lost between certain factions of Romford Football club regarding the current plight, where they have no ground to call their own or support to follow them. Paul Martin’s (RFC Manager) commented in last weeks Recorder sums it up , “we need a new ground to get money in”, well who will pay for your new ground Mr Martin? Oh sorry Mr Martin, you and Mr Fenn would like nothing better than to sell the family silver, namely Bridge Avenue which you have no interest in, or do you?

Brooklands springs to mind, when a certain RFC did exactly the same and sold off the only asset they had.

Non league football is not exempt from the pariah’s who claim, they are the clubs saviours, who plough lots of unsustainable cash into a little old club and later leave pulling the rug from under the clubs feet, AFC Hornchurch is one of those clubs. Yet like others who have been unsuccessful, we strive to reverse the damage done.

So Mr Fenn and other’s take note, we are currently trying to sort out the issues that we have, quietly and with some amount of decorum. We are not like some, trying to stir up something that is not there.

well said, only problem i have with the above statement is that i din't know that our old friend ingle was where the stadium is located lol

I know we shouldn't fall to their level but i also don't believe we should let them slag off our stadium in the written press to try to justify their needs

fantastic post dtc.

it may be something to do with the age or incontinence of the stereotypical romford fan, but their bitterness towards us is, i find at times heart warming and at other times very sad. and yes, the patronising tone is intentional.

romford feel that the borough have let them down and to an extent i agree, they deserve for the council to help them out and i sincerely hope the westlands project is green lighted for them and that funds are made available to them so they are able to play in romford once more.

after 2012, i'm sure the stadium will be sold for housing, regardless of whether they will be at risk of flooding or not. 1 in 3 homes are apparently at risk from flooding. it will happen. where the money goes from the sale is anyones guess, but if the council were to evict hornchurch, i would expect them to prioritise compensating and possibly rehousing the club over giving romford some cash to spend on fences...

the likes of coup, and even lightweight mcp and clocky are not as blinkered with their hatred of hornchurch as the other fans are and can probably see that the best way for romford as a club to proceed is for them to concentrate on romford and that the continued bitterness and possibly envy towards the bridge is pointless and will prove to be ultimately fruitless.

the topic has been closed although not locked on their forum as they think the council read their forum. If our council workers are reading the forums of either club i would hope their bosses find out and sack the individuals straight away, still romford are very important locally!!
