East Anglian Cup/Essex Thameside Trophy

Neither wishing to confirm or deny your good authority but if so do you think it could possibly have anything to do with the fact that Bedfordshire is part of East Anglia?

Doughnut.

Have to agree with "loose" re Anglia boundaries.

If you think of the Tv network for Anglia and the football clubs they cover....

Southend, Colu, Norwich & Ipswich

Luton, Rushden & D, Peterborough, Cambridge Utd, Northampton, Stevenage.

THAT IS BEDFORDSHIRE, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE & CAMBRIDGESHIRE TOO. SORRY RHODES.

Geography isn't my strongest point but, like I said, I always thought East Anglia meant Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex. I just think that Southill Alexander's entry devalues the competition that's all.

Lesbos - Well I'm glad someone agrees with me, yes it's an absolute joke and I wonder whether it is money orientated like everything else these days

like Dickie calling off the Tilbury game last season because "we would have lost £150" ? Hope they were fined £200 for withdrawing!

We played St Albans an unhealthy amount of times in the EAC during the 80s, also Bedford and Peterborough in the early 60s.

But back in the 50s, just to throw a few more oddities into the 'what constitutes East Anglia' mix, we were oft paired with Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea in said competition.

Perhaps the latter should have entered the ETT, then again it was an invitational competition in those days.

Re the ETT, we played Witham away in an early round a few years back. What bit of 'Thamesside' did the comps organizer(s) not get?

Perhaps they should rename it the 'Predictive Thamesside Flood Plain Trophy' if it is brought back.

And talking of which.. where is the Galleon? Worth the equivilant of Hornchurch's weekly wage bill in 2003-4 so I have been told...

My memory maybe playing tricks on me, but is this the game that Romford won after being a goal down?

Memory aint what it used to be

Not quite. Jan 17, 2006. We went 2-0 up before Bennett (probably Gary who must have every East Anglian club on his footballing CV) pulled one back with eight minutes to go.

I could remember losing 2.1 though. Thanks for the info.
