Ressies Destory Aveley at their home Fortress

OMG!!!!!!!

John Mifsud and Paul Moody took a very young ressie side to Aveley's home fortress

and beat them 4-3 in normal time in the Capital League Presidents Cup.

And before anyone say’s yes’ but! and puts their big foot in it.

Let me just say this.

There are a total of 28 teams in the Capital League, made up of three sections of

10-9-9 teams.

Aveley Ressies have played 5 league games so far this season and won them all, scoring 17 goals for and only 1 against and that only goal against was away!

Aveley are also the ONLY side in the Capital League who are unbeaten so far this season out of the 28 teams. They are a very strong side.

Let me tell you, I saw this match and we just simply took them apart. I know that Mike Marsh scored 2 more goals, but I don't know who scored the others?

What a game, my God did anyone else see it???

I can’t wait for John’s match report.

Well done lads, well done.

Our reserves have always been a "jewel" for the club in my opinion...They, the Ladies team and our youth teams. Even though I have not seen either play that much this season, these teams have kept the spirit of the club going and deserve all the plaudits that come their way. It's a shame (and I include myself) that our supporters don't get behind them more. I have enjoyed a fair few quality games watching both teams and seen some spectacular goals and wins...but I suppose what with family and work commitments it just isn't possible to watch every 'Ricay Team play.

Well done to the ressies...I feel almost cheerful about the prospect of going to Aveley with the first team now...

Yes, I watched it Brucie.

First goals from each side were early Christmas presents.

Both sides were looking to get in behind and the lino's were Struggling to keep up with play which resulted in an open game .

I thought our 11, pooley, had a very good game and was probably the difference between the two sides. As the game wore on we certainly had the better of the chances and on another day (with a pass) would have scored a few more. Its always nice to nick a winner in added time. A deserved win I thought, well done lads.

The other scorers were the 6 in the first half and the 8 in the second

I see Avely won 4-0 away at Folkestone in the League Cup on Tuesday evening. Invicta are doing well in R1S at the moment, so don't feel too cheerful :-)

Damn Rick...Damn your eyes!!!!

I'm getting so miserable about our season that I may start eating porridge, wearing a kilt, punctuate my speech with lots of "ochs and eyes" and calling myself Gordon!!!

lol Flash Gordon I hope Gaz

All this talk of Gordons is making me thirsty.

Someone once told me that John Shuttleworth & Jilted John (of "Gordon is a Moron" fame) are one and the same person. Is that true?

And to bring the thread back on topic, do we know when, where & who the ressies have in the next round of the Presidents Cup?

I can happily confirm that is true.

John Shuttleworth is a true comedy genius - went to see him a few times in my younger years.

Always look out for the clasic "catch the fox"!

Scorers for all teams are generally on their respective results pages on the OS shortly after the games finish.

It's just the Team Names you struggle with :icon22: Burnham Who? ;)

I too saw the demolition of Aveley last night..lots of good things to see! Easily taken goals that would have been easily missed..attackers defending on top of the Aveley back four giving them no time and a well deserved win. Lots of player highlights such as the left back who was very solid, and 4 forwards to look at..Mike Marsh a pain in the Aveley defences side all night with non stop pedal and 2 well taken goals. Only downside was the odd lack of marking at set pieces and the inability of No 9 to pass the ball...if he had we would have had 3 more goals at least.

All in all a feast of entertainment and well worth the admission fee! This lot could probably give some of the 1st team more than a run for their money.wink.gif
