I think you need to be really dedicated to be a Margate supporter these days Alan, because after all they are not offering too much to tempt the casual fan. I am not offering that as an excuse, there are other reasons that people can no longer attend matches like, for example, myself who have my own problems keeping me away.

The main reason I believe that a lot in the picture no longer appear at games is that they have died. I hope the picture will be shown again in another 30 years, and I'll be here to see it.

Ahhhh I well remember Ray Hopper dashing about on matchdays, always looking flustered and in a rush. Always wondered who he was but as a kid I had no one to ask and was not brave enough to find someone else to ask (I'm not a kid anymore, but I'm still not brave enough to ask who anyone is).

I recognise all but two of those faces and can name seven of them.

Why does Ken look older there than he does now? Has he found the secret to eternal life??

Also, is that Bob Hoskins standing next to Sammy Samson? Not Derek obviously but the one the the left as we look at it? I do not recall him ever being involved!!!

John Elacott, his son Nigel used to help around the ground, (learning difficulties) the players were really good to him, letting him train with them "etc". John has since passed away.

unfortunatly I think all we sponsor are the bills, from TDC to the white line paint and the fuel that drives the mower. not to mention the washing up powder, the entry tickets, repairs to doors that get kicked in, and , no I won't go on the list is endless. As for opinions, they make for good reading, Sometimes.

Possibly the usual shortsightedness of youth?

He may be right if Tonbridge get promoted this season; but if they don't;i fully anticipate Margate being in the play off mix next season and medium term are a better bet for progression than Tonbridge .

Well Liam if Liam has always wanted to play for Warrilow why did he not phone him when he was outed at Carshalton.

 

Seems to me that he just does not like strong minded managers.

 

But as Cookie says his loss. Just looking forward to waving to him as we go pass Tonbridge to better and higher things.
