Celtic fans

Once again celtic fans have shamed british football, when the rest of the UK were remembering the fallen heroes who have died for this country in wars the celtic fans were yesterday singing through the minutes silence at their game at falkirk yesterday. The only reason it wasn't heard was because sky decided to turn the sound down. How many more times do they get away with this sort of thing, they moan when rangers sing songs about them but are just as bad if not worse, seeing as many catholics and irish catholics have given up their lives for our freedom.

None of the celtic staff wore poppies although some of the staff are enlgish and manager tony mowbray has worn poppies on his previous games as a manager with west brom.

don't think we should be letting these teams into our premier league if they hate us so much

Whats even worse is that had it been Rangers the papers and the media would be reporting and commenting on that like a rash as Rob said Rangers have there probs but I seriously dont think they are as bad as Celtic what the silly idiots dont realise is that there club is in Scotland not Ireland and maybe had relatives who thought for Britain in WW2 and maybe afterwards and only sing these pathetic songs because of there Heretage.

I hope that they will never play in England funny isnt it that they slaughter and slag off our country and people yet want to play in our league. Keep them in Scotland and let them rot.

I know an Irish guy who paraded on Sunday.

He was very proud to represent his counry.

The Irish Regiments have their own march past in June as well.

Celtic do not represent Ireland.

Memorial day is a world wide event and not English.

Celtic are no different, when they played in seville in the uefa cup final a few years ago the locals complained it took 6 months to get the city back to normal, shops looted, streets smelling of p1ss & sh1t for weeks after,of course the british press covered this up as they always seem to do with celtic(and liverpool).Whenever they play a testimonial in england they bring down thousands who treat the place sh1t.Anyone who says celtics problems are only a minority are seriously wrong

somehow i doubt you'd have posted this if it was rangers rob.

it is sick, but the hardcore celtic fans see the war and remembrance of it as an english, british or establishment thing.

it may seem to be pandering to the celtic fans, but if they can't show a bit of respect then i think they should not be allowed to play over the weekend of remembrance sunday. or if they are, then behind closed doors. plenty of people from all over the british isles and from all religions died during the war. if we were in germany and they had a minutes silence for all of the german people who died in the war, i'd expect us to observe it.

lets just give them scotland back. build up hadrians wall a bit higher, all around scotland and let the rain do the rest.

I'm sure it is the hardcore of Celtic fans that are doing this. The disappointing thing is that there were a lot of brave people who gave up their lives to give them the right of freedom of speech and this is how they repay them by abusing that right.

Yes lol

I do hope you will all be bowing your heads at 11am this morning to remember all those who have lost their lives in conflict and those who are losing theirs at the moment or are fighting at the moment.

Also all those, whatever nationality who have lost their lives or loved ones due to conflict

Just seen this thread and it is very close to my heart.

As some of you may know, both my parents are/were from Ireland, my dad from Tyrone in the north and mum was from Wicklow.

All my relatives in Tyrone are Celtic fans and all of them are fairly anti-British.

If you go to the War Memorial in Cookstown (Co. Tyrone) you will see a list of the "Fallen" from both World Wars. On the side of the Memorial commemorating WWI, you will see the name of P (Paddy) Corey. However, unlike the rest of the list, which is naturally in alphabetical order, Paddy's name was clearly added much later, as it was under all the other names and less worn/weather beaten.

It transpires that Paddy, who was a Catholic and a member of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, died on June 15th 1915 in Bethune, Northern France, from German Shell fire. His name was withheld from the War Memorial for many years simply because he was a Catholic and because the War Memorial was erected at the height of the Irish War of Independence (1922). It was later added following a protest by the family, some of whom wanted him recognised, some of whom did not want his name associated with the forces of the crown!!!

So yes, there were many Irish Catholics who fought in both World Wars on the side of the Allies, and yes, the Celtic fans who disrupted the minutes silence were wrong. But until you understand the depth of feeling that still exists in Ireland and the Irish, you will never begin to understand the reason for the things they do.

BTW, many thousands of Celtic fans actually travel over from Ireland for the games, I'm guessing it was they who were disruptive.

FYI, I wore my Poppy with pride, hence the avatar!!!
