how do we go forward from here?

Recommended Posts

Its a long way back from here isnt it! We need those new signings to start gelling with the rest of the squad immediately and to start picking up some points.

I cast my eye down the list of teams in Div 1 North in my depression on Saturday night. Its fair to say that it didnt cheer me up. Our next 2 league games are away to Aveley and Margate and them home the Boreham Wood. Realistically we must be looking to pick up 6 points from these 3 games. That would atleast give us some hope of having to endure the likes of VSD Athletic (who the f*** are they!)next season.

I thought the vocal encouragement from much of the crowd was great on Saturday. Lets keep that up!

Yes mate, I too thought "where the hell is VSD Athletic" - Jeez, are we all starting to really fear the worst.

I thought the supporters did their best (in the circumstances) and good to see we can still laugh...It is only a game (aint it) !?! :Kick_Can_emoticon:

Well It is clear that the Chairman has given Statham another chance to rebuild the team thus we have to give time for the new players to gel, time in my view we don't have but that is where we are at.

Like most fans I am in no doubt that on current performances we are going to end up getting relegated but the chairman has given Statham time and therefore like on Sat we have to get behind the team cause this is our club. That is however on the proviso that performances start to improve. We should see a gradual performance over the next 3-4 games if not then surely Steve must understand the fans frustrations and the fact that the inevitable has to happen and Statham should be released.

Firstly, we should face up to reality; the league table doesn't lie, we're bottom on merit and in the brown stuff. We need to understand which players are up for the challenge and who doesn't fancy it. Offload those who don't.

Make sure the new signings gel (assuming they are staying) quickly. And then show some bottle, fight, spirit, leadership and teamwork. Plus start winning!

All this needs to happen pronto as time isn't something there's much of now.

Probably coudn't/ wouldn't happen, BUT.......consider this - I currently work in sales & get paid commission ONLY ie if I don't sell, I don't get paid - it's surprising how effective this is in focussing on the job - So, on this basis advise the players quite simply that if they don't win or draw, they don't get paid !

As I said.............

Rick, I think posted a calculation that if we average 1.4 points over our next 29 games, we'll have 50 points. This got me thinking, what if we started putting in a championship winning run? Say 2 points per game ( :cheesy (2): )? We'll then have 67 points. In my mind, the margin for "error" is very small for the remaining season. I would say that the time for any action has passed and what we have is what we have. I wouldn't suggest our season is over as regards survival but it's getting quite slim (almost anorexic) as the season progresses and I cannot see where our appetite for the fight is going to come from as regards what we have on the pitch.

I apologise to all for looking on the "dark side" of possibility and I sincerely hope that we can pull out of the relegation zone but at present I can't see it. Saying that, I have always supported and I will continue to get behind the club and hope we all do the same and if we do pull out and survive, I for one will "eat my hat" and congratulate those that have contributed to the performance...(but we shouldn't have been in this position in the first place).

"We're all Doomed! Doomed, Captain Mainwaring!"

You'll all be eating your words when we win the FA Vase for an historic fourth time in Olympic Year. "It's all part of the Master Plan" as one of the Gallaghers might have said...

In reality, that couldn't happen because the team will walk including contract players. I think TC has given BS a second chance with the aim to get out of the Bottom zone. Hopefully this will happen soon, but there is still loads of time. Margate got out of the poo last season when all looked lost.

You're right...there is a lot of time to go and if we get out of this, I will stand at the front and applaude the management and players but I don't think we should be in this position in the first place. I have my own thoughts as to why we are but I'll keep 'em to myself.

I make no apologies for beginning to look at the "dark side". We are where we are and following some very under par performances I feel that something extraordinary will have to happen to ensure safety...but the extraordinary does happen. We are masters of our own fate and over this season have contrived to make things difficult for ourselves. Games that should've been won and closed down have been drawn and games where we have lost certainly shouldn't have been lost if we had carried our initial performance in those games through to the full ninety minutes. When we stop "pushing" our "self destruct" button, perhaps we'll start moving up the league.

That was it. Quality rant!

That thread has found its way around most of the footballing world now (even AC Milan)! And possibly gonna make an appearance of soccer AM.

I partuculary liked the Aylesbury fan who said "our players are paid £15 a week and we were the last team to beat Bath in a cup game" to which a Grimsby fan responded "can we swap players" !
