Jonathan Hunt was out with an injury and Reece Prestedge came back into the starting line up, whilst both Michael Spencer and Billy Coyne were back in the squad following injury. In bright sunshine, Urchins kicked towards the windmill end of the ground, and Mark Janney played a long ball down the middle for Wayne Gray to chase. Cousins hooked the ball away, but Andy Tomlinson returned it into the goalmouth for JO FLACK to flick over the line – time was 40 seconds, which is the fastest goal since Lee Springer scored against Tilbury in October 2005. And less than five minutes later it was two. The match referee is the same one who ignored the most blatant hand ball ever in the history of the Isthmian League at Wealdstone a couple of seasons ago, but this time he had no hesitation in awarding a penalty when Jo Flack was scythed down as he raced on to a through pass from Mark Janney. WAYNE GRAY took the penalty and fired the ball hard into the net. Hendon had not impressed but began to come more into the match when James Bent missed his kick and the ball ran loose to Guentchev, and Darren Behcet made an excellent diving save. Scott Cousins then set a record for booting the ball out the ground – it was last seen heading over the District Line as passengers on the train frantically hurled themselves to the floor. A Guentchev cross was headed away by Elliot Styles but only to Dean Peter, whose shot was saved at full length by Behcet to turn the ball out for a corner. Cousins took the kick and Goodfellow cleared. A good move starting with Ronnie Fletcher saw the ball go via Paul Shave and Jamie Dormer out to Andy Tomlinson who played it in front of Paul Shave who had moved up through the middle. Diedhiou did well to run back to tackle to conceded a corner, which Dormer took and the ball was punched away by Reading. Fletcher had to concede a corner as Guentchev almost broke through, and Dunn played the ball short to Guentchev who turned it inside to Daley, who in turn tried a first time shot, the ball narrowly missing a high flying heron as it sailed skywards and disappeared into a small dot into the atmosphere. Hendon, roared on by their supporter, pulled a goal back when Bent made a penetrating run and his shot was blocked, but the ball ran out to LUBOMIR GUENTCHEV whose shot went in off the post. Urchins regained control and pressed forward, and a long run by Janney ended when Vargas had to concede a corner. Dormer sent over an inswinging kick, Styles touched on to Paul Shave, whose shot was cleared off the line. A long ball from Reece Prestedge to Wayne Gray opened up the visiting defence, but Wayne put his shot too high and over the bar. A Dormer free kick went out for a corner, and Dormer sent the ball over, for Ronnie Fletcher whose hard shot was spectacularly saved by James Reading. Seconds after half time Paul Shave sent Wayne Gray clear and only a last ditch tackle prevented a goal. Hendon levelled a minute later when Ken MacLaren made a good run and his low cross was turned over the line by LUBOMIR GUENTCHEV. A complete injustice, but the scores were still level, and Urchins had came back powerfully. Tomlinson’s free kick was punched away by Reading, and a hard Prestedge shot was turned around the post for a corner. Janney took the kick and played the ball over to Paul Shave whose header was touched over the bar for another corner, taken by Dormer, and cleared by Cousins. A Prestedge cross found Have, who played the ball on to Flack, whose shot was blocked. Urchins went in front when Darren Behcet’s long upfield kick was touched on for REECE PRESTEDGE, whose hard shot went under the diving Reading. Hendon broke away and Behcet touched a Peter shot around the post for a corner, but play was largely confined to the other end, where Prestedge found Flack, who turned and shot, but hit the ball inches wide of the post. Billy Coyne, back after being on the receiving end of a red card tackle last week, came on for Ronnie Fletcher, and sent Janney away on the right. Mark centred to Jo Flack, who slipped and missed the ball right in front of goal. But Urchins again went two goals ahead when Billy Coyne sent a good pass along the right, and MARK JANNEY took up the running, cut inside, and hammered the ball home from a narrow angle. Michael Spencer came on for a liming Prestedge and moved up from the half way line to send over a good ball to Flack, only for Cousins to block the shot. Just when it seemed that Urchins were going to increase their lead, Hendon broke away and JAMES BENT scored after a solo run through the middle. And with Hendon throwing everyone forward they levelled in the final minute when Bent again made a good run, and Behcet made an excellent save, only for the ball to run loose to LUBOMIR GUENTCHEV whose follow up shot ended up in the net. In the three minutes added on for stoppages, Cousins twice sent corner kicks into the goalmouth but on both occasions they were comfortably cleared, and Hendon went away happy with a point they never thought they were going to get.
