Boothroyd's Boys Travel to Redbridge 6:44 PM, Friday, 06 November 09. By Chris Evans

Redbridge had cause to celebrate as they were handed an attractive home tie against Colchester United in the Fourth Round of the Essex Senior Cup supported by BBC Essex, the Friday-night Draw being broadcast on the station with Hullbridge Sports Manager, Enrico Tiritera, present as a special guest. The Oakside club were the final home ball to be plucked from the bag and they will face Aidy Boothroyd’s men in the last 16, with the new U’s Manager recently expressing his desire to win the competition. Colchester and Dagenham & Redbridge were the last remaining Football League sides due to Southend United’s exit at Bowers & Pitsea, but the Motormen were still rewarded for their 4-3 win at Southend Manor.

Competition holders Chelmsford City, who also prevailed by the odd goal in seven against a spirited Heybridge Swifts, entertain Julian Dicks’ Grays Athletic at Melbourne Stadium as they begin the defence of their title. Meanwhile, Tiritera was pleased to see his squad fixed-up with a test against Blue Square South opposition as Robbie Garvey’s Braintree Town pay a visit to Lower Road on or before the 5th December deadline.

In the hat were 20 teams all looking to take one step closer to the final. Four Third Round ties are still to be decided, with Burnham Ramblers facing Billericay Town, Halstead Town up against Harlow Town and East Thurrock United competing with neighbours Thurrock all on Tuesday night. The winners of the East Thurrock match will meet the victors of the game between Waltham Forest and AFC Hornchurch, which was originally abandoned due to a player injury and is now scheduled for Wednesday.

Elsewhere in the schedule, 2009 runners-up Concord Rangers have been handed a home game against fellow Ryman League Division One North side Maldon Town, while the winners of the Halstead/Harlow fixture will entertain Dagenham & Redbridge. Aveley await the winners of the re-scheduled Burnham Ramblers and Billericay Town tie and Waltham Abbey look forward to meeting Bowers & Pitsea.

Enrico assisted by drawing the home clubs at the station’s headquarters in Chelmsford while ECFA Chief Executive, Phil Sammons, was responsible for the away sides. BBC Essex’s Ben Fryer presented the coverage while Mark Wallis from the County Office Cups & Competitions Department was also present to oversee the draw, which can be heard again for a short time via the ‘Listen Again’ link at www.bbc.co.uk/essex.
