Interesting. I hate to break this to you but did you perhaps dream me saying that to you?

Correct conversation, wrong gig, it was the tsuami gig.

But I remember Tony coming over to tell me this conversation happened about 30 secs after it did.

Gertcha - I know you didn't fail your exams, it was merely a comparison, however your exams won't be any use to you when you're in hospital with an axe in your head delivered from some crackhead.

Zeal - Yes I do beleive this will still happen, do you think I make it all up and don't actually go down there at all, I don't think it's out of the question for such an ambitious project to overrun by this amount of time especaiiy as I've told you about the bloke who stole 250K off us, ideally it would't and there is a bit of me that wonders if it will but I certainly wouldn't be wasting my time with them if I really felt that it wouldn't happen and I'd be out promoting myself some more!

Very knowledgable is G. Angel. I should think that The Zombies might be a little 'mainstream' for him, however. I remember when he came on and posted his All Time Favourite Top 500 Album Chart, I hadn't heard of any of them. And what's more, I couldn't tell, or even guess, at which was the name of the band and which was the name of the album.

Cult.

Thimking about it, it might be that their first album was recorded at Rickmansworth and you might be right about Abbey Road for 'Odyssey & Oracle. I'll check.

Following article found on the web confirms Abbey Road

"................the group managed to win a new contract with CBS Records, they decided to break up, but not before recording a final album, "Odessey and Oracle", which was self-produced with the intention of being more representative of the band's real sound, and was completed at Abbey Road Studios late in 1967. According to interviews at the time, the misspelling of "Odyssey" was deliberate and had all sorts of deep, meaningful significance. Rod Argent has since admitted the more prosaic reason: the cover artist misspelled "odyssey" and there wasn't time to change it before the artwork was due at the printer, so they let it go and made up a cover story likening the songs to Shakespearian odes."

Quite right all round, chaps.

It seems that most of the population of St Albans are related to the Argents or the Rodfords. And, yes, most of them were at the gig!

After the concert, I bought their live double album recorded last year at the Apollo Theatre. High quality.

re: Odessey & Oracle

Listened to this on the way back from the football on Saturday. Hadn't played it for a few weeks.

It's just brilliant stuff. I urge everyone to get this album (except Thornsy who will hate it).

I bought it originally for two reasons. 1) This Will Be Our Year, which I'd wanted ever since the Charlatans opened with it in 1995. And 2) the obvious St Albans connections.

The fact they're from St Albans soon gets forgotten, as the music more than stands up for itself, in its own right.

Massive in America, this album. Did fk all over here.
