Didnt play at our best first half but were just the better side in a poor first 45 mins. Second half we came out all guns blazing thanks to some excellent play by Jake Parsons. Victor and Chenns caused trouble but Seeds goal to break the deadlock was top notch!! Great head by chenns for the second aswell. Even when Thatcham got their goal i thought we'd see them out and we did.

I don't think we were bad first half I thought thatcham were very organised and did what they needed to do. Thier defenders were pulling back deeper than mangotfield to try to negate the pace of our strikers, so full credit to thier manager for getting his tactic right. However once seed's fantastic goal broke the deadlock they pushed up and second half although the final score was 2-1 I agree I think the way we played we had it in the bag.

Don't know what Scotty said at half time but we came at them like an express train in the second half. Suddenly scoring looked like a certainty and duly arrived (although I still maintain Chennels header from a couple of yards went in, how could it not have?!?!?).

First half was very tactical and you get the feeling we look to contain teams and maybe hit on the break before looking for the win in the second half. Not sure if it is down to fitness or Scotty sussing out how to break them down and then getting the players organised to do it. Either way it worked and we got a very important 3 points.

 

Wonder what is going on with Bruce, it is great bringing hiom on from the bench, and you can't doubt Scotty's team selection, but would any of us left him out of our starting midfield?

 

Oh well, bring on Saturday and lets see if we can't keep this promotion machine rolling on

Great piece of wing play from Victor to create the 2nd goal should not go without mention.

 

Yet another highly enjoyable 2nd half after a fairly uninspiring 1st!

To be fair we did play well over the full 90 on Saturday. Thatcham are one of the better sides we've played this year, just behind gosport, and i dont think they offered much. But we've only played 4 of the top 10 sides yet so lets wait until January to get a good idea of our true league postion. Afterall it's a marathon not a sprint!

The way in which Victor turned his man when it looked like a pass back was the prefered option was sublime.Chennells header and there wasn't any doubt where it was going. Thatcham were no push overs and a little patience was needed. Didn't think the first half was too bad but second half we really showed our strength. Important we don't underestimate cleve on saturday, after all there aren't any easy games but a win would put us in a good position with points on the board rather than tottons games in hand.

Woody, if we have played 4 of the top ten we therefore only have half of the top ten left to play. So not bad really. We do have some big games coming up and some composure is required for not only those games but also the "easy" games we should win. As Windsorian said there are no easy games in reality, remember AFC Hayes, how tough was that second half? I bet Bracknell is no walk in the park either!!

the boys look good at the moment, the last two games we have played well for 90 mins and looked good for both victories, our strikers have scored (some good goals as well) and our strength in depth has not been found wanting.

So bring on Cirencester and our toughest test to date, let them do their worst, and we shall do our best and to the victor, the spoils....
