Mangotsfield match report

Sounds as though we really did dominate... this is their view, and it's not very different from ours (OK, Malcolm's).

All change at the back? I don't think I've seen McNeill play for us in a competitive fixture. Line-up looks interesting up front, too - Victor playing the Rooney role? Did we have a true midfield diamond, with Seeds staying further back and Jake + Joe on either wing? Anyway, it obviously worked...

More of a 4-3-3 so i'm told. But as i've not played at park level i was clueless. After all when we were 2-0 up i was shouting "We can still win this!!" :champis2:

Tom did what had to be done very well. Great potential and on contract aswell apparently. Clearly at bracknell he's going to get quite a few chances to shine this season. Would be interesting to see what they think about him and Little Davey Peirce aswell. Thought Richardson had a good game actually. The Arrival of Victor has really given him a rocket up his [****!!****] and he's proving to be a worthwhile sqaud player if you ask me.

And as for Vic, great backflip, what a start he has had!! Chenns might have a real rival for top goalscorer this season!

3-4-3 ?? Wow. I mean, any more pace on the wings and we'd get sponsorship by Boeing.

Seriously, that's aggressive - the Colonel must have been pretty confident. And, obviously, was proven completely right. Do that - or switch to it if we're holding a lock on the game, and aren't worried about long ball/on-the-break counter-attacks - and it should bring in the goals, for sure.

Dan, we're in a good position where we can get people like Dave Mudge or Graham Malcolm [Reserves Manager] to watch our opponents just prior to us playing them so we know in advance their strengths/weaknesses/pattern of play/etc, which obviously helps a lot, but Saturdays' team was almost governed by the players we had available which just happened to fit in with the fact we knew Mangotsfield had no pace in the side so wouldn't threaten on the flanks.

We've all known for the last two seasons we needed another out and out goalscorer to ease the pressure on Chenns and the arrival of Victor shcould finally be that missing link in the chain. Marcus will I'm sure also play a big part in our season although personally I believe it will be mostly coming off the bench when needed.

Look back to the arrival of Scotty and our defence since then has been pretty solid but we haven't always taken advantage of the goalscoring chances we've created, now we have two exceptionally speedy forwards I would expect us to score more of those chances and win games more comfortably than we have in the past. You also have to look at the depth in the squad and see players that are not only good enough to come straight in but can play out of position when required as happened on Saturday.

At the start of the season we had what I thought would be a playoff chasing squad, now, with the additions we've made, I think we're looking at a Championship winning squad! Don't get me wrong though as I don't necessarily think we'll run away with the league as there are too many good sides in the division, but if we stick to what we do best we'll be a match for anyone or anything we come up against. The other thing to bear in mind is that we can concentrate solely on the league whilst others have cup distractions although I would like to see us retain the Berks & Bucks Cup again.
