Boreham Wood 3-2 Slough Town

Unlucky I thought against a good side and thought we did enough to take it to a replay, but it was not to be...

Thought they were the better side first-half and we were the better side in the second-half. The difference was probably their striker who was excellent and bagged a hat-trick. We looked like the side we were at the start of the season today as in recent weeks at times we've been poor.

But we've taken two sides who could be in the promotion race in a league above ours all the way, which is encouraging. Just a shame we could not have put our first x1 out as the results may have been different.

Couple of worrying things in the fact that the defence looks vunerable now compared to the start of the season when it looked rock-solid, and yet another injury and down to the bare bones (especially attacking) and still think we need another striker up front, but far far better than the dross served-up last week and excellent support today as well I thought. Unlucky Rebels, but now is the time to fully concentrate on a play-off push.

Mo opened his first team account with a stunning header for the second.

Agree with Chris that the defence is showing signs of weaknessas two of the goals conceded were soft and should have been covered.

Bit unfair on the defence as the problems still come from front to back, forwards don't hold the ball up midfield goes missing so it ends up back in defence. Harper is timing the ball now he's had a run in the side and will get better ,Sealy unfortunately is not fit ,Mo score a good header but wasn't in the game apart from that and Simon got another injury looked like hamstring all in all not a bvad game overall although we only seem to play when we are 3 - 2 down as per Tooting

Disappointing to have lost but the team gave a good account of themselves, and that's all you can ask.

Sealey returning was the overriding positive from the game. His pace and willingness to take on players has been missed in recent weeks.

One thing did get to me today. Why wasn't Hayes taking the corners? Seems to have a good delivery and at times the corner set pieces today were dreadful.

Agree with Chris regarding the strikers. With Martin injured, COC and Gumbs gone and DJ seemingly unavailable the squad is looking short of a real goal threat and that could cause problems.

It's not often where I've felt we've been cheated out of a replay but we definitely were today. Massively unlucky not to score a third today...

The defence was a bit suspect in places today, but as has already been pointed out, the problem for my two pence worth is letting the ball go too early in the midfield... too often we appear to sit back and let the opposition have time on the ball, instead of running at them and putting them under pressure. Interestingly, we did that far more in the last 20 mins when the pressure was supposed to be on us.

But there were a lot of positives to take from today. Harps was a stand out MOTM by a mile for me today - it's great to see him back in the side. Sealey and Mo were also great, it was fab to have some pace again this week. And we held up against a side at the top of the league above us, which is a massive improvement on matches gone by.

I have to agree with Tom though, Hayes, if he's on the pitch should be taking the corners. By all means, play a short corner once or twice, but it was used too often today to too little effect.

Hard luck Rebels, bring on next week and a push for the playoffs.

Agreed we were very unlucky today, and put in a very good overall performance against a team doing well in the league above. Sealey looked good on his return, Murphy also had another very good game, as did Harper, Buchanan and Hayes. Good goal from Mo he has deserved one based on his recent performances though I thought he looked a little off the pace today.

It is worrying that we are conceding a lot of goals which are just silly mistakes, but hopefully we can focus on the league now and push for the top spots. We will have to see if Bateman decides to bring in another striker or not I guess.

Good game today Slough, let's carry that on to the next few games. Rothwell is going to be a big game next Saturday but we need a win on Tuesday.

Very proud of the boys today, again we never gave up against a team that are second in the Ryman premier and if only Harper got any sort of touch on that cross and their Keeper didn't make a great save from Edgy's terrific free kick we could have at least got a replay.

Really looking forward to Tuesday now and making a push up the league table.

C'mon you Rebels!!

thought we played very well today though in the first half mo did seem a little lost and was found to be constantly in no mans land, in the second half it seemed that he was given the freedom to go further forward and was so much more happier and effective, again and again we left players unmarked up front on the left flank which did cause us problems, we really need to mark all the opposition players more closely we seem to give them to much room and allow them too much time on the ball, we have to install a fear in opposition players that as soon as they receive the ball they are going to be tackled as teams seem to do to us, but all in all a performance that i'm happy with.

I thought we played well, and that a draw would have been a fair result.

The defence did have problems today, but they were up against a team that are 2nd at premier level. I'm sure we will be back to clean sheets again at our current level.

Their keeper made a great save at the end to stop Edgy's free kick, and we never gave up, and it was also good to see Mo get his first goal for us.

For those who sang when we scored, well done at being as loud as the tannoy music was when they scored.

Anyway, well done to the players for a very good performance, of which was better that most if not all of the oppostion at that ground this season so far, so said a few BW people I spoke to.

I thought the closeness of the result masked a poor performance. Same old same old in my opinion. When we have the ball we get closed down. When the opposition have the ball we give them the freedom of the park. Several times they were able to play the ball around at the back and in midfield with little or no pressure. Central midfield was totally anonymous again.

It was not a vintage performance by any means but we ran them close. They were clinical in attack when you consider how many chances they had. We came very close at the end with Harper just not reaching Edgeworth's cross.

I would agree with others that we look a bit toothless up front at times - not helped by the main targetman Martin limping off again. We probably need someone else in until Sippets is able to come in. I also share the concerns about the midfield, and I'm not convinced it's strong enough when we don't have the ball. Sealey had a good game on his return and Harper stood out at the back.

It's a shame to be out of the cups, but now that we are, the season starts here in many ways. We don't yet fully know how good we are compared to all the other sides in the league, so now we find out. Now that the likes of Sealey and Sinclair are returning, we need to get a consistent team, another good run going and keep posting points on the board.

Bit disappointed that we didnt grab a 3-3 draw right at the death, although overall I thought we played pretty well.

I thought the main difference between the two sides was that their forwards were much more of a threat than ours,

when they were given the opportunity. Similar to the Tooting forwards in a way. Bit disappointed with the Boreham Wood

support, pretty poor for a side at that level, although at least the place was not infested with chavs, unlike our last visit

back in 2006.

No chavs, but still played the ruddy music when they scored, talk about blow your own trumpet!

No crowd to speak of, therefore they play the music for atmosphere. Twice as many Rebels there as home supporters. In our league maybe we might expect that but not in the level above. We did ourselves proud at Tooting as well.

I was surprised the crowd was only 167, thought it'll be at least 200! There must have been around 100 from Slough, leaving just 60 odd supporting Boreham Wood. What I don't get, is they average 183 in the league, so where were the missing 120 odd on Saturday? Yes I know that average includes away fans but there were still alot of their fans missing? Imagine if they played a side that had no away support, the gate would have been less than 100!
