It was on fairly late last night, but did anyone else see the programme on ITV about the making of "Never Mind The [****!!****]"??

 

Not really a fan, and all their songs sounded exactly the same, but I enjoyed the programme. And Johnny Rotton still has those mad-eyes too!!

Any good? - no.

 

It was their attitude rather than their musical prowess.

I watched that with the sound down as I was having a bit of a trawl through my cd collection.

 

I like the Sex Pistols a lot, both their attitude and their music. The only problem I have is the occasional romanticising of Sid Viscious, who I don't consider a 'youth hero' at all. Out of The Clash and The Pistols I would say that the Clash are better but it's difficult to make a judgement seeing as the Pistols only made one album if you exclude 'the great rock 'n' roll swindle' album.

Musically The Clash are a million times better than the Pistols, but I'm not really a fan of either. Can't say there's a great deal of Punk in my collection!

No, I wasn't a particularly angry young man. More of an angst-ridden, love-sick young man, really!!

 

The Beatles and early '90 indie music got me through my mid-teens!!

Perhaps you should give punk another go as a lot of your posts on here seem to be fuelled by anger latley! You could start a new movement of 'angry men in their late twenties to mid 30s'

GHA. Ocean Colour Scene - ok

Idlewild - not really

Semisonic - absolutely not

Bluetones - early stuff very good

Blur - yes

Dodgy - not really

 

And apart from Blur, none of them are really early '90s, are they??

I'm firmly of the belief that in a music context "Attitude Is More Important Than Ability", it's fair to say that the original punk bands were a little limited in their musical approach, but made up for it with the energy in their records. Far preferable than listening to accepted technical geniuses i.e Coldplay and Gomez...

Just a vague fairly broad selection of indie music in general, I thought.

 

Oh, and Idlewild are absolutely quality.
