tonights game

Didn't see the game last night. Given it was reserve opposition I expect MB would not have learned a great deal in football terms. I guess the main objectives would be giving the players a work-out (given the long period without a game) and seeing which 'pupils' are most keen to impress their new 'teacher'.

Agree withmost of the above posts.

main difference to me was that Blackman was immense in first half -pulling ramsgate defenders alll over the place(infairness against lower quality opposition).

After he went off=MFC lacked that'penetration'.

However-the second half was not about scoring goals-it was about playing the Butler way-and as post above suggests it was about the 'passing game'to achieve penmetration.

As beeks kept on saying-DON't FORCE IT-pass it.

Everytime they'forced it'-they lost it.

It took until the last 15 minutesto latch on.

Whilst the passing gamestarted to take effect-what was niticeable to me was that the running into space/off ball needs alot more work to enable the player in possession to find a player to pass to.

all that given-its easy to play that way when 5-2 up-not quite so easy inthe ryman premier !!

Mention also made of whincup-no chancewith the goals(more defensive lapses)but he looked comfortable-no real saves to make, although after other defensive lapses-won a couple of one onones-he did well to force their player to shoot wide.

He did look comfortable though-and unlike with mullins-you did not think he would spill every catch.

I liked Butlers diamond midfield with JK deep, wilson and stubbs central and healey at head of the diamond.

For the first time we looked like we had a proper midfield and the game(even though opposition was not great)-we still had control.

Stubbs abd wilson worked hard and well i thought .Worked together-sum of the whole greater than the parts.

(what on earth was Yorath doing playing wilson and healey as wide midfielders on occasions !!).

I always though stubbs was just an ok player-not great apart from his energy .

Last night he really impressed me with his all round game however-and for first time ever-he would also narrowly be my most valuable player last night.

again him and wilson TOGETHER in central midfield means we can start to win midfield-i always said that the criticism of WW this season was unfair as he was being asked to do it all on his own before.

(great free kick by WW-would have beatenany keeper in any league).

blueblood - you don't like going to Southwood because of things such as a little guy in his late forties making snide comments ?

I think Mark will take that as a compliment, he is a snide little guy but deffo looks over 40

Kids normaly learn by example, with people of that age behaving in that way what if any hope have you got that the next generation will mature before reaching his age.

Quite good going forward, but rather shaky at the back, worryingly. Two defensive lapses cost us two goals. But, really, we should be keeping a clean sheet against that sort of opposition. Can't believe no-one has mentioned how poor Lewis was. Shocking defending for the first goal and simply proceeded to give away fouls everytime he got near the ball from there on in. When all are fit, surely Harwood, Young, Haverson, Wheatley and Smith all start before him?

As others have mentioned, Stubbsy was excellent - easily MOTM for me. Thought Healy played well, as did Robinson. Although we, obviously, have to put it into perspective who we were playing. It was nice to see that Butler's philosophy does seem to keep the ball on the deck, which can only bode well, although the players will surely not have that much time on the ball in any Ryman game. First time I've seen King and was not impressed at all. Was never looking to run at the opposition when had the ball - always tracking back - and looked very unfit.

Just good to see a game after being starved of action for what seems like an eternity!

Good write up Mike as usual. Agree about Lewis, did feel sorry for him though when he broke his fingers and he was running around dug out in obvious pain!

Lewis at fault for the first can't deny that.Should have stopped the guy running through. Apart from that he didn't do too bad, however, my first choice at the back would be the youthfulness of Young & Harwood I must admit. Lewis would be a good replacement though should it be required.

All players made errors on the night at some stage or another,JK especially, but all played some good football too, especially first half.

Agree with Cookie Lewis at fault for first goal, hrd to judge overall performance, as we were much better than the opposition, however it was only Ramsgate reserves and they did all right. Was inpressed with the new manager and assistant, its obvious to me they are proper football coaches and want to play a certain way and from the kick off several players got rockets for not "doing their job", I though kieron got better as the gane went on, the keeper looked assured, Wilson and Stubbs did well but i wouldnt describe stubbs as "superb", defence a bit panicky but I beleive they will all get better with a few ganes and organisation, overall we played some good stuff, and i am quitly confident.

Only saw the second half. looks like a lot of work to do.

I have not seen much 1st team football this season as I am with the ressies most Saturdays BUT, from what I saw 2nd half they need a shake up.

Shame about Ben Lewis's Injury, a broken finger I believe.

Reminded why I don't like going to Southwood, little guy in his late forties making snide comments behind us, just loud enough to be heard then, ducking. No need for it. grow up.

Never heard these comments, but then why wasn't you down the blue end blueblood, anyway I thought it was a good game played in a good spirit.

Apart from the injured Dan Young- i believe the only first team player missing on the night was Edusei.

Does any one know if injured,

maybe not available last thursday with other commitments

or maybe he has been released as he was only on a two game trial i recall, and had three attempts anyway

Edusei didn't play as he doesn't train, something Mark has bought in already, so am guessing he is no longer with us and Harrison to replace him hoprfully!

That may or may not be the case.

I simply have no idea

If that is the case though, then you do wonder why TY had him playing in the first place as it obviously would not work out (let alone his history of a long list of clubs)-since TY was bemoaning the fact that some players did not attend training regularly-but how much was TY actually responsible for that himself ?

Still thats history-onwards and upwards with Mr Butler i am convinced.

I have a good feeling that when he makes a signing-it will be a player for more than two games;and that he knows enough about the players in and around this league to ensure they are signed to play in the team-'permanent' -as opposed to play a couple of games on trial.
