Yep, this was revealed by Steve Bateman in last night's programme. Roy wants first-team football in his last season before he retires. Best of luck Gumbsy!

Indeed, I heard he has gone to Beaconsfield though I'm not sure. Good luck Roy, a true legend of Slough, you never know maybe a future manager or coach?

Although he was an occasional first team starter, he ALWAYS gave 100% and I would have liked to see him play more often than he did as his attitude to the game was spot on.

 

I too would love to see him back at the club in the future.

Top bloke. Always gave 100% for the Rebels and pulled others up around him and a Slough town supporter as well as a player. Sadly there are too many players in front of him this season, so totally understandable he want to move on. Should have played far more under Sweetman last year with the squad we had at that time and amost single handedly at times stopped us from getting 'relegated' a couple of seasons back. Really sad to see Roy go, but totally understand why he would want to be playing rather than sitting on the bench for his last season.

 

He has been one of the characters of the last few seasons that have helped keep us all going through the bad bits and always gives his all on the pitch.

It's a real shame, but totally understand Roy's reasons for moving on. Think he is a great character to have around and will be sorely missed.
