O'Connor in Saunders out at Burnham

Have to say kind of expected Craig to go after the 7 day approach as Terry and some other mates play there.. But didn't see the Saunders out coming. Just released too, I can only guess they needed to make space in the budget for Craig?

Has Suanders not had a good season? Last time I saw him play he looked a pretty decent player.

Speaking to the parent of a burnham player on saturday he said Saunders has been rubbish this season. Expect it was a Four Letter version of rubbish!

Jarvo and Gouldy were on the non-league radio show on Monday night and seemed to hint there is more money there if needed so i'm not sure if thats why they've got rid of him

We might do worse than approach Rob - he may not be on top form this season, but equally it might just be that he's not suited to Jarvo's style. And I agree, he looked to have great potential when he used to play with us, and from what I've seen and from all reports from Burnham he's a very useful player indeed. Especially if Willo's not back (or not for long) then we're light on central midfielders, especially attacking ones, and he's certainly a lot more experienced than a lot of our others...

Is there any local team at this level which Craig *hasn't* played for? I suppose Staines might be a move too far...

We could definitely do with a bit of depth in the centre of the park. Other than the starting four (Jake, Seeds, Wilson, Joe) and Kristen (Scott Thomas)we don't have another player I would feel comfortable starting with in the midfield (not counting Willow, but is he ever going to be fit again?). Not sure what our budget is and if it can take him or even if he would come to us, but i am sure he would strengthen us

From what I know Saunders has opted to join Ascot where he has some mates with the intention of "winding down his career", despite interest from Southern League clubs.

What is he, 27/28 and winding down his career? When he could play at the same level for say, Slough or Windsor and get paid for doing it.

If it's true that he's joined Ascot then he has lost any drive or motivation to play at a level that his abilities warrent. Probably explains why, this season, his form has dipped, in which case he is probably better off playing park football at Ascot.

Its no always the drive that goes but when you have played at the highest level you will play at, other factors come into play, family, work other social engagements. It may be he wants to stop playing and concentrate on other parts of his life. He can play easily at Ascot without too much trouble (probably)so maybe he can enjoy his footbball there with no pressure and with his mates.

Its a shame for Windsor (or Slough) but players have to be happy to perform fully and if he's not then he shouldn't.

A nice diplomatic point of view Fuzzy.

RR the Hellenic is hardly park football

Windsorian, ok it's one step up from park football.

But only just!

Clearly Saunders was thinking he was going to be billy big shot at Burnham and when he realised he wasnt got in a sulk! We have a team with good team sprit so why would we want to ruin that? If your all pulling in the same direction thats half the job done.

Rob is a quality player, but his heart did not seem to be in it this season, with some very careless and casual play, giving the ball away, as well as constantly complaining when a lot of the time, the breakdown was his fault. At the end of his previous spell with Burnham he would keep arguing with the manager, and you don't do that with Jarvo. Unfortunately, despite his skill, in trying to take his time to be precise, the speed at which people close you down in this league requires a faster deliveryand he kept getting caught. Deadly in a dead ball situation, though.....

My point of view is not diplomatic. Slate a player for not playing well or not trying, but don't slate him for deciding he can't or doesn't want to make the grade and therefore won't let anyone down.

After yesterday's performance maybe we do have a strong enough squad to challengee for the title, with key players not starting we still looked strong and could have bagged another 4! Bringing on Bruce into an already dominant midfield surely shows a depth we thought we might be missing.

The thing is though Fuzzy, it shows an even greater depth wneh you think about it. Bruce never came on in midfield. He came on and went to left back with Ryan Parsons playing centre back, showing that two players can play out of the naural positions.

With Saunders signing for Ascot the manager has been quoted in the paper as saying "He has a wealth of experience. He could be the bit of quality we need. He could be the catalyst to turn things around, but it is not all about him. It is also about the other nine players that are on the pitch with him."

Think I've spotted his problem this season.. he needs to field another 10 players.... :dance (2):
