Slough Town v Chesham

Lost 2-1 Martin scored our goal.

Can't say i'm too bothered about being knocked out of this cup as we have more important competitions to concentrate on, although slightly worrying in the fact the 'promotion hopefuls' in this league Burnham, Hitchin and Chesham have all beaten us.

That is concerning.

Also, not good to hear Herron has picked up another injury. Not been a good season for him on this front and isn't really enabling him to get a good run of games.

I rate this competition higher than the B&B, and whilst it's not the end of the world, I feel it would have been nice to progress as it enables the manager to rotate the squad and give fringe players some game time.

It looked like a recurrence of Herron's old injury, whilst Buchanan also went off at half-time, replaced by Mo. Not sure what was wrong with him, if anything.

Chesham looked a good side in the first half, but we came back into it strongly and were more than a match. With a bit of luck, we could have forced extra-time, but we still have the Trophy to look forward to.

Elsewhere, Tooting won 4-3 AET at Eastbourne, who were reduced to 9 men by the end, so they get the trip to Stockport.

Have to agree with you re promotion hopefuls and in all honesty cant see us causing any of the 3 a problem, 2nite Chesham didn't have to do much to beat us, probably doesn't help that Bateman cant make up his mind who to play, which inturn probably doesn't help the players either. Still missing a midfielder who likes to tackle. Think NBH also now on 5 bookings so will miss 1 game what will Bateman do now?

we have not been that much short of the probable promotion 3 but we have just lacked that extra something. those 3 seem to have a lot of fast attacking players something we don't really have. also we are just not solid enough. we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot and give away sloppy goals. the goals we are conceding are almost all avoidable if something fairly simple was done correctly

As mentioned above this cup is not a priority, however it was the last piece of silverware we won when it was the Bryco cup.

Midfield is a real problem - at times it is non-existant. Hibbet was just wandering around the park last night, barely putting in 50% effort, is this due to him not wanting to get injured or can he not be bothered at this level?

The introduction of Mo livened things up again, as he is the only player with pace.

The amount of poor passing needs to be addressed - we are giving simple balls away and then getting punished.

There is now a need to get the full first team back together fo the next few games to pick up some wins.

I also begrudge paying £8 to watch the refferee for 90 mins - I pay to watch football, and a good ref is one you dont notice!

Fair comments the midfield is poor and Hibbert doesn't add to it, interesting your comment about the need to get the full team back isn't that part of the problem what is the full team Bateman doesn't appear to know either, to many changes defence keeps changing and front 2 keeps changing only part which stays the same is midfield and thats what needs changing

The changes in midfield and defence have been forced though through injury. If you look at the games prior to Sinclair, Sealey and Edwards getting injured the team selection was consistent.

It's also part of the reason why the team has lost much of its pace going forward.

I think SB does know his 1st 11 and it's only the obvious injuries that we've got that have prevented him from playing it.

The midfield does need a defense minded tackler whose mobile enough to patrol the space that Keane and Edgeworth leave when they commit themselves forward, unfortunately we don't have such a player at the club.

My team if all fit/without bans would be:

Jackson

Sweeney, NBH, Fenton, Edwards

Edgeworth (back of diamond), Sharif (front of diamond), Sinclair, Sealey

O'Connor, Buchanan

Jacko in goal as he communicates better with the defence although there is not much between him and Perks otherwise.

Defence on their day are solid - just need to concentrate and cover each other.

The mid-field is very creative but would need the dicipline to work back to help out defending - Edgeworth would need to put in the Wilko style crunching tackles.

Up front O'Connor and Buchanan are the two who are most goal hungry.

The other thing which would improve the team as a whole would be to close players down quicker and closer.

One comment that came from behind the goal last night was that we are not a physical team, unlike Chesham who would foul a player by giving them a tap if it looked like they were going to get away - not hard enough to get a booking, but enough to stop the game and re-group.

Is it 5 or 7 bookings before a 1 match suspension and is it automatic or when notified by the league?

5 bookings. NBH is currently listed on the FA site.

Slough Town FC NATHAN BOWDEN-HAASE 10/11/2009 Suspended from all first team football until the Club have completed 1 first team match for 5/10/15 cautions.

So will miss the Chesham away game.
