Mark Butler gives his reaction to his appointment as Gate boss

I think the best appointment has to be Cliff Egan who hopefully will get big family events organised, sort sponsorship etc which has been sadly lacking the last few years, despite MISA good efforts.

All have their own qualities which is important as it should give a balance on the board. I did notice that there is no firework night again this year which is frustrating

Yes Pagey, these are the sort of events which would draw families to the club, am sure something will hopefully be done for next year though.

 

Agree about the balance, Richard is good with finance side, Cliff with commercial side, Gordon for his very good tact and diplomacy, spoke very well at the meeting on Friday, Keith to continue pushing development forward and Colin who is a very good person to interact with both fans and players alike.

It is always a great amusement to me that the English celebrate the failure of the gunpowder plot whose underlying intention was in Guy Fawkes own words "To send the Scotsmen back to SCOTLAND".

In fairness I know the club did consider this but I think the assessment was that given the number of established events, it was quite a risky thing to do given the up-front costs. Whether the decision was a too risk averse one is a matter of opinion I guess, the reason for not going ahead was at least based on something.

the last event made quite a bit of money, and imo it should had been built on year on year, but now not having built upon this you are up against other events as you say more established and also a few free ones
