Basically, David Gray is for women who normally like clubbing and dance music, to say they like when they want to claim they're into 'serious, proper music'.

 

He makes Coldplay seem charismatic.

I mean, Stereophonics, Coldplay and Starsailor are bland, but this man eclipses them all. He is crap.

 

But women seem to love him, because they think it's cool. I'm sick of seeing these stupid female presenters on Children's TV, trying to make out they're cool cos they like David Gray and Coldplay.

And that stupid bitch on RISE, who won Big Brother last year. She always goes on about how much she loves David Gray and Coldplay, and you know that she just spends her weekends dancing round her handbag to crap charty dance, and only says she likes David Gray so that people will apparently take her seriously.

 

David Gray's music - just a vehicle for thick women to try and make out they're as cool as blokes. Which they're not.

Coldplay is very much a token band thing as well, when you speak to someone who has a horrendous collection of music, 'but I like Coldplay and David Gray' It's kind of an excuse for all the other cr*p they own..

 

Mind you Hail T'Thief (as they call it in Yorkshire) sold 60,000 in the first two days, which means there's hope for us all.

I don't like David Gray's music but he is quite sexy! As are Kelly Jones and Chris Martin from Stereophonics and Coldplay, which probably explains the female interest Zeal!!

 

And anyway, why do people always slag of Coldplay and Stereophonics. Admittedly, the stereophonics have gone downhill considerably releasing ****** versions of Rod Stewart songs. But, I thought their first album, 'word gets around', was absolutle quality as was a couple of songs on Perfomance and Coctails.

 

As for Coldplay, I suspect a lot of people slag them off just because they've become mainstream and popular and successful (the same thing happened with Oasis). It's kind of like when people slag off pop songs but secretly they like them! I think Coldplay ARE overrated, but they are a good band.

Well chubber, never said I didn't like coldplay, but they do have a few 'hangers on' and they're usually bad music apologists. One of my so called friends is trying to make me believe the latest Christina Aguilera Album is good, he did not suceed! But also likes Coldplay.

 

Oh and Fleet Boy, if you're going to V2003 for both days catch I am Kloot in the JJB area, I am trying to convert people as their recent single doesn't do them justice!

I dislike David Gray. I don't dislike Coldplay. I own two Coldplay albums and find them pleasant enough. But nothing more. How they win Grammy's and Brit's I don't know, but that's another argument.

 

I like Oasis a lot, and do not slag them off just because they're somewhat passe now. I think Heathen Chemistry is their best album since 1995.

 

When I like a pop song, I will generally admit to it on here, as I have done with the latest Girls Aloud song and various Sugababes singles etc. I don't "secretly like them" - I openly like them.

 

But I maintain, however, that people (mainly women) attach themselves to Coldplay and David Gray, to try and make themselves seem more "cool". They fail.

On the contrary. Abba were a very good band. As much as I would say they are certainly a 'proper' band.

 

A bit 'bubblegum' maybe, but a) they were fantastic songwriters, and they were fantastic musicians.
