Slough Town v Uxbridge

Reasonably comfortable. It was a much improved performance overall. We looked much better in attack and could have had a goal or two in the first half, and we were pressing hard until Buchanan rounded the keeper and scored before tucking in a shot from a corner not too long afterwards.

Mo Sharif had an excellent game, in the second half he had 4 or 5 good chances but was unlucky not to score, he was doing very well to take the opposition on and played very well. The defence was reasonably solid too which was good.

Well done Slough, we needed this to get the confidence back.

Team was Perks, Sweeney, Murphy, Kean, Bowden Haase, Harper, Sharif, Herron, Jordan (yes, he was back tonight), Buchanan and Edgeworth. Subs were Hayes, Bateman, Avis, Gumbs and Jackson.

Yes have to agree thought Sharif had a good game specially 2nd half unlucky not to score, defence also better although possibly not the best game from NBH still he was due a few errors Harper also had a good game and was unlucky on a couple of occassions not to score, good stop from the keeper for one of his efforts in the 1st half, why oh why wasn't he in the side last Saturday, still not sure why Sweeney natural right back and Harper natural centreback have been switched. Perks kicking def better 2night also, Jordan held the ball up well which also helps, lets hop this continues Saturday

pretty comfortable win in the end but 1 that was vital to get us back on track confidence wise. Buchanan should hopefully now gain greatly in confidence with his 2 goals. imo he could well turn out to be that 15-20+ goals striker we desire if he gets going

what can you really say about Mo Sharif. absolutely fantastic performance from him. the boy is fearless and really is deserving of starting for the foreseeable future. carry on like this and Sinclair might not just get straight back in the team after all lol

nice to get yet more prize money and you could see a bit of confidence coming back although we have not been awful by any means in the last few weeks.

Reason Sweeney is at centre back is he's quicker, barely puts a foot wrong, doesn't get booked/sent off IMO. Harper did have a much better game tonight though.

Very difficult to pick a MOM because everyone played their part in a good solid team performance. Herrons best game since his injury and I thought DJ never stopped running and was excellent.

Have to disagree with your comment on NBH. If he did make any mistakes I must have missed them because I thought he was, again, immense at the back.

Couple of minor points on the game write-up. The crowd was 180 not 200 and I'm pretty certain Chris Herron got booked.

I thought Dan Murphy,Mo Shariff,Dean Harper all could be awarded MOM last night.Elliot Buchanan and Danny Jordan both had excellent second halves but were both quiet in the first half.

Mo deserved a goal for all his efforts. What a young talent. We're lucky to have some young players coming through this season,to paper over the cracks when the more experienced players are out.

Dean Harper had an excellent game last night but I thought Dan Murphy was superb. He worked tirelessly and when Chris Herron gets fully fit[he got better as the game went on],these two will form a great partnership on the left side. Also if we can keep Ryan Fenton[accomplished full back/centre half] and the option of Elliot Buchanan[if needs be]on the left wing.We have more than capable Left sided players.Something Derek Sweetman never got right in his season in charge.

Anyone remember Alan Pluckrose[what a left-back he was].I liken Dan Murphy more to a Alex Haddow, though.

What's so good about our squad this year,is that Steve Bateman can play players out of their normal positions and still get the best from them. In other words,we're very adaptable.

Now if we can just get a few more league points..............?!!

I thought Murphy, Sharif and Harper had great games too, but Buchanan looked a constant threat, bagged two goals and could have had more. We have good competition for places, whether O'Connor decides to leave or not, and Buchanan did his chances no harm. Murphy and Sweeney would be my two picks for POTS so far. Certainly the most consistent.

Add to that the emergence of Mo Sharif, who is only 16 but I think he has played his way into the first team until Sinclair and Sealey return.

Last night was a comfortable win in the end. Harper had 3 or 4 cleared off the line on his own, and Sharif came close a number of times. We could have scored 5 or 6, as Uxbridge strangely offered little. Good to see Jordan back, he makes a difference although I was a little surprised to see him get 90 minutes.

Bit of a dour first half, but the second half more than made up for that. As previously stated, we got better as the game went on , and

indeed could have had more if it were not for some good goalkeeping and some soft finishing. Was very impressed by Mo, who I

am sure everybody was willing to get his first senior goal. Game over as a contest when we went 2-0 nil up , although at 1-0 I

thought they could still sneak it. Bad points: their keepers kicking (awful), and thank god no extra time as the pub was beckoning!

MOM: Elliot closer followed by Mo.

I think you can add NBH, Sinclair, O'Connor, Edwards and Sealey in the category of most consistent and picks for POTS so far.

Player Of The Season!

Its still only the middle of October and there are 6 months more of the season left.

The forward line was much more convincing than the last few games with Mo running at defenders and looking to break through the defence, DJ winning and holding the ball up and then making sure it found a Slough player, and Buchannon taking his chances on goal. Bateman picked the right players for the job.

Dissapointing gate, but with overpaid softies playing euro diving on the tv then it will have an impact.

180-200 is still pretty good for a cold Tuesday night, its better than some teams overall average gate.

200 is ok but not great given the size of your club and given that it is a local derby.

Good luck too to you for the title, i don't fancy chesham or hitchin to be honest, Rothwell are the ones to watch have experience of getting out of this division and are on the way up after a difficult few years.
