Five Thousand And None

The question of what to do with my 5,000th post was a difficult one for myself to find the true answer to. Change my name, profile etc, but continue on from 5,000? Start a whole new username, account and everything? Stop posting for all eternity? I asked a fellow board user, and his/her answer was simple. Too simple. So I modified it. I’m sure his/her idea has been done before, possibly by me, but anyway.

 

So here it is. Merry Christmas, everybody's havin' fun. Take the time to read the following, and remember...'I'm not a teacher, but an awakener.'

Why did you choose this particular poem GHA? I like it, it's very 'stirring'! Is the film 'If...' based on this poem, or am I being dumb?

No particular reason. However, it was recommended, it's a good poem, I like it, and it's very 'stirring' () although I'm sure I've posted it on here before. I was going to put 'The Charge of the Light Brigade (Lord Tennyson)' on, or maybe 'Take The Power Back (Rage Against The Machine),' or something by Chomsky, but thought that 'If' is simple yet effective.

 

I don't know about the film 'If...' so I can't help you out with that one.

'If...' is a very arty film. It has the same guy who was in 'A clockwork Orange' in it (Malcom someone?). I'm not sure if it was directed my Stanley Kubrick but it's definitley his style of film. It's about these teenage boys who go to a very strict boarding school and they're really rebellious. They end up shooting up the school in a bizarre scene at the end-it was a film before it's time!

If... (directed by Lindsay Anderson - 1968) starred Malcolm MacDowell (no relation to Andie, so far as I'm aware), who did go on to star in Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange". For further information, go to Here

Not any more, MKJames. Rumour is, they've all been banned! Apparently you need to register on there to post now. Looking back over the first 10 of their 13 pages (since the board has been in existence), it might get a bit quiet on there soon.
