Crikey-thats an unexpectedly strong squad.

I take it Groombridge and hemmings are from the reserves (new names on me.

Interesting that Boreau and Jermy are not in the squad as 'fringe players'

I assume Langiano and Cliffe are being rested in advance of thursdays U18 game.

Good that the squad has been announced in advance-maybe that will encourage one or two supporters will venture down.

Quain is actualy at Faversham but Folkestone do have Jimmy Jackson, Michael Yianni and Paul Egan in their ranks. Lee Spiller was also there lasts season and their management also has two ex-Margate players in Neil Cugley and Mickey Dix.

Ashley Groombridge is a striker who has been playing for Woking Reserves. Scored a brace for them in a recent game they won 8-1. They're currently top of their Reserve league, having already scored 57 goals so I wonder just how many of them Ashley has.

Does anybody actually know why we are having a friendly on Weds? I'm wondering if there may be a cull of players on the horizon as there does not appear to be any triallists at this time, especially as it has been mentioned recently about players not playing for the shirt.

Interesting Jake.

Is he to be our much sought after striker then ?

And a number of trialists will be on show...... I find that interesting. Looks to me like Big Nev is using his time as 'caretaker' to build on a squad like as if it's pre season?

I'm disappointed too that Samson isn't listed. Very excited at the prospect of Groombridge. The squad is looking good!

I guess the fact that we're not in action this weekend makes having a friendly ideal midweek IMO. A chance to trial a few new players, test a few things out, possible formation wise aswell who knows.

Ah poo, sorry guys made a mistake with Groombridge, he's actually a midfielder! But he did score two in that match I didn't get that bit wrong, one which was a 30 yard screamer. But he's not our striker we're after I'm affraid. :(

Cheers BGA-the revolving doors go on then.

With regards to Jermy-was he ever 'captured' in the first place.

It seems to me that we have a nucleous of a decent squad anyway.

Are we actually trying too hard to get additional players-is all this getting trialists in wasting time and energy (and possibly money).

Shold the focus be more on coaching and improving the nucleous of the existing squad ?

Are all these fringe triallists causing confusion and diluting the effort required to improve the main squad ?

Ok-maybe we do want one or two additional players-but can we not just go for quality and actually get a player who is good and contracted. We seem to have a scattergun approach at moment-lots of quantity-and maybe one will stick'.

Does'nt seem to achieve much.

(or should all this stuff be done by the reserve team manager, and sort the wheat from the chaff in the reserves-not the first team when vital points are at stake )

Quality -not quantity for me-and focus on the existing squad ,rather than get distracted by all these trialists.

After all-we now have the likes of Morris,Smith, possibly Corbishley when fit soon,Taylor ,Stubbs,Cliffe who cannot be guaranteed a game.Add on the other 13 or so first team players and you have a decent squad to work with.

We would be pretty lucky to find a trialist who is better than any of those-so why not concentrate on what you've got;and maybe add just one or two quality players if and when they come along-as opposed to all these guys who are really just seeking a game and would have been with a club in the first place if they were any good

The season is a quarter old after all-its not pre-season.

Too much playing staff distraction going on imo.

He was only on a two game trial I believe and, although very skilful, in the rough and tumble that can be the Ryman League, certainly at Canvey he did look rather lost on the field.

Sorry I dont know where he has gone though.

oh ok thanks. Have to say was same thinking here really, game is much more physical at this level. Having said that, there isnt a glut of quality left sided players about so i for one was unhappy he left us....not sure getting few games here or there are enough to show what you are capable of but i guess u have to take your chances when u can!! Good luck again, hope to see u in conny south soon!

Great to see Kane Hemmings given a chance,he has played well all season.

Though Charlie McCarthy had a bit of a mare on Saturday, he deserves a chance.

Personally I think the time as come for a good stock take in both 1st and reserve squads.

As the reserves are also without a fixture on saturday, would this be an opportunity to have a first team v reserves game at HDP open to the public; so that spectators can see the quality at all levels. ?

Next home first team game is almost a month away, and indeed -there is only one other fixture in between at Hastings.

Going to be like the close season all over again.

If not a game v reserves this saturday-maybe some more friendlies will be arranged ?
