I'm old enough to remember Monty P but this is more like Rowan and Martins Laugh In, and Henry Gibson would like to say that the midfield on Tuesday looked much better, a good performance all round but still not sure that the Leyton team was the strongest, not bitching but still have some concerns about the quality.

Perhaps Steph is right and the standard is better but some games this year have not been very good at all, maybe the good times are coming !

No I am agreeing with you.

Little britain is infantile. There are some good points (Yes but!No But! Yes But! etc is good but why labour the point and include it in every episode)

Catherine Tate is peurile and cant hold a candle to Jack Dee.

But what about Gavin and Stacey and their mirror to modern sociological mores. (Just back from the pub)I was watching it yeasterday and the bit where the Essex Bint came in wolfing a piece of ham with her Jut bag proclaiming Green is good or something similar but had around half a dozen plastic bags was so good that it probably went over the heads of many of the viewers.

Come on MFM Gavin and Stacey = you muswt have some commment on that.

Not sure how we got here in a thread entitled "Leaking Too Many Goals", but what the hell let's run with it and see where we end up.

Time to open up the debate:

Monty Python - hilarious. Ditto other comedies without a 'point' (situation or satire for example) - Vic Reeves Big Night Out, The Fast Show.

Little Britain however = infantile garbage. Is this a reasonable point of view? Or am I just weird? (I know I am going to regret posting that......)

:161:

you asked for it mate weird

On the recommendation of this thread I watched "The inbetweeners" last night. I will not watch it again.

There is something wrong with this country when such programmes are broadcast on the telly and are meant to make us laugh. I knew the country was going downhill when Spitting Image was heralded as class satire but could not hold a candle to TW3 of Bremner Bird and Fortune.

It seems that the youth of today are still laughing at willy jokes rather than growing up and appreciating adult humour.

I despair.

Oscar Wilde will be turning over in his grave. What happened to wit. Was it when the country stopped reading the Daily Mirror (not the Mirror you will note) and turned to the Sun.

Steph, is that because it is too close to reality? That is what makes it so funny, the realism of it all.

"Bus W*****s" pmsl

Spitting Image, well have you not seen the episode of Maggies cabinet sitting down to dinner in the restaurant?

Maggie: I will have the roast lamb.

Waitress: ok & the vegetables?

Maggie: Oh they will have the same!!

Quality.

If that is the reality of our youth of today. This country really is in trouble.

The joke about the restaurant is very good but one joke does not make satire.

What about the infantile aspect of portraying Hattersley as a splutterer.

Or David Steel on David Owens shoulder. We get the joke now move on.

TW3 was different every week. Spitting image replayed the same formats time and again.
