Essex senior Cup

I need to get something off my chest as I am fuming about this item.

Bowers & Pitsea were due tio play Southend United in the Essex Senior Cup and as our home game we decided on November 4th as it would give us time to get things prepared, we are having a new standing area built by the tunnel and programmes would need to be printed etc.

Southend United refused this date as they have a FA Youth Cup tie that week and decided to go to County to moan.

Essex County have decided in favour of the big club and have told us that we have to play the game on Wed 28th October to allow Southend to fulfill the FA Youth cup game.

We will not have our new stand completed in this time and will be without 3 players due to work committments and also may be without our goal scorer who will be suspended, he would have been able to play on the 4th.

This is another case of so called big boy clubs treating us little clubs like dirt and thinking they can rule over us. It was or game so we should be able to say when we play, also its a Senior competition so why cant they send a senior side??, they must have enough players in all their sides to be able to put 11 out.

Its a disgrace

We were treated similar by the County, it was about 3 seasons ago although we were the bigger team. (hard to imagine i know) Our 1st team were home in the Ryman League on the date, that the Reserves (were drawn at home in the Essex Saturday Premier Cup) It was our home tie and we wanted to play it before or after the date but because (the step.7) the opposition disagreed with the dates suggested, they were given our home advantage. It all stinks and now i am not an official of WTFC, i can get this off my chest now. Oh that felt good.;)

I think its only right that county have backed Southend, just because we are having a new stand built which wont be ready in time.Contractors have been booked that day to finish the work they started on our pitch and now cant fit us in for another 6 weeks. We have players unavailable that night,Mr Gillam could be suspended that week.We have already started advertising. We will have to postpone our game against Burnham the day before. But as long as Southend get whatever they want whats the problem Lee.By the way any chance of getting our cup game against Sawbo cancelled tomorrow as I believe some of our under 12 team are having a party at Mcdonalds tonight.

Bowers and Pitsea Football Club will rise above this, go for the win and continue with the good work that all involed have put in this season to give Basildon a football team to compete with our neighbouring towns.

Slaphead, thank you for your support this season,be in no doubt if we dont win it wont be for the want of trying,I can assure you, and any of our supporters, that we are trying to build a team and a stadium to rival anybody in the area. With the backroom staff we have at the Len Salmon now and the support we are getting from the board we are certain we will achieve this.

Mr Gillam suspended ? What a surprise.

shouldnt believe everything you read (ask Hookey!)

1-0 to Bowers

m-o-m Gillam

Gillam man of the match? Are we serious about it? You could have given to Del or Jamie or any of the defenders but Gillam???My opinion by his standards he didn't do a lot tonight.Without taking anything away from Bowers because at the end of the day you can only beat what is in front of you,the tonight's SUFC youth team from Southend which included a 43 years old Tilly was really poor, especially in the last third. It's certainly a worring time for the Shrimpers because none of those lads showed that they are capable of stepping up to the first team,at a time when the club badly needs them.

By giving the MOM to any of the defenders, you are implying that we were under the cosh all night which is far from the truth. The defence did play very well indeed, as did the whole team and throughly deserved to win (by more than 1 goal). Southend (youth team it may have been) were not a bad side and would have beat most if not every ESL team 9 times out of 10, so it was a great achievement and result for Bowers. They were far from "really poor"... they just got out-worked and didnt want it as much. As for their players not being ready for the 1st team, that may be true, but it just goes to show what trouble Southend are in as 2 of the players were on the bench for the last 1st team game and the keeper (who ballsed up massively) has 1st team games under his belt!

Whatever team Southend put out would have expected to beat Bowers (since all the players are full time and far fitter than ESL), so its a great result whatever way you look at it. Anyone who comments and belittles the result and says how poor Southend were etc etc just shows how gutted they are that it wasnt their club beating them!!

PS cant believe nobody has mentioned the biting on the Southend bench... proper poor losers and embarassed themselves by attempting to cause a fight because they were beat by an ESL team ha ha ha

Dear son i can see from your comment that you are still a young player that doesn't know how things work at youth level with pro clubs. If you ask some of your clubs officials they will tell you that even a non exceptional Bowers side a few years ago played SUFC youth team and drew 0-0 or even some local sides like GWR played their youth side and beat them.Tiptree played WHUFC youth team (without Zola  )and drew 2-2 against them in pre-season.To them the result doesn't mean anything and it's all about developping players through.About the game i think apart the goal scored with your culo :492: you did nothing else. It's amazing how you get picked ahead of a promising youngster like Dan Barrington .My man of the match was Del Birkett and Judd-Salmon were decent as well.

You wish I was your son!!

I may have not done much else during the game, but goals win games. Stats don't lie!!

PS ask Del how much I now about Pro Youth Teams..... I've learned a thing or 2 from his boss..!

No worry Smallsy i know his uncle after having meet him on various occasions at seminaries or games at Chadwell Heath. The first time was at Charlton training ground about 12 years ago where he borrowed some of Coachie precious paper  on another occasion it was when after watching his u'11 stuffed by Coachie Shrimprers troups he was very quick in sending one of our players to their physio room only to find out that while in there he had spoken to his parents to lure the player to West Ham. Still that ddoesn't change my opinion about his game...to see Harty shifted to to right midfield or Barrington bombed out to make room for him,it really puzzles me  Anyway football is only a matter of opinions but hey....don't tell me that Chris ,Ashley and Lloyd are better than the the famous Carr??? :futbolbud2:

I may be getting "old", but I still fancy a few goals against Hullbridge this year! I hope I dont touch the ball all game but then bang in 2.... oops.. that was last year!! ha

Anyway stop trying to unsettle the camp... there is enough room for all of us.
