Awful Ground, Awful Ref and Shocking second half performance. First half we were good but lacking the killer touch ( again!) Second half the game became a farce due to the ref! A Draw would of been a fair result but i'm not complaining. But we need to get going SOON!!

Fagan- What a hero!!!

Funny how we played some good football and then fell foul of a breakaway goal...again!!!!

I have to concurr that the ref, once having sent off their player, for what can only be described a stupidly late challenge, he lost the plot completely. He didn't really have that much to do up until then. There was no real bite in the game, not a nasty game then a very silly challenge and it was xmas with cards being given out left right and centre!!!

Their number 5 sent off after the final whistle I think as well.

Again I thought the midfield played very well in patches but we just looked toothless in front of goal, with the quality we have how is that possible?

On another note I thought AFC Hayes were truly magnificent with ten men and defended very well, they didn't get what they deserrved but I will happily take the three points and run like the wind.

Fagan, player of the season so far, great defender, great player and equal leading goalscorer, wonder if he could give me the lottery numbers for tomorrow night.......

Both sides were p$ss poor really, should have wrapped it up in the first half, didn't think the referee was too bad, seen worse, thought Hayes got what they deserved through time wasting, another win which is good enough, hopefully we will click in the latter half of the season and clinch the title.

Interesting that tonight was afc hayes biggest crowd of the season while Hitchin's was their lowest. :brille008:

Oh for God's sake Woody don't start with that, it doesn't matter, it really doesn't matter how many fans you get if you get the three points, see Slough lost out to a last gasp goal as well, a lot of it about.

We did put the ball in the back of the net four times in the second half and only one of them was debatable.

I think you are being unfair to say we were that poor in the first half, we could have scored 3 or 4 times and attacked well, we all thought we were going to win at half time, but they came out fighting in the second half and we could have gone a couple down, but we didn't and we fought back and won and ultimately if we keep on doing this whilst we are playing poorly when we play well hopefully we will push on for the league. We are still ahead on points over last season and it took us a while to get going then. I guess tomorrow we get to see how good the team is against an average Premier team.

We shall see.....

That comment isn't going to go unnoticed for long! They're already squealing over on the Slough forum because a few Hitchin dared to comment on Slough's lack of numbers last night, in fact a few of them seem more concerned with that then they do about the game.

Well, if Slough took "50-65" along as they say, that's a sight more than most teams at this level take away on a Tuesday evening for anything except a really local derby.

And glancing at their league fixtures, they may get about the biggest crowds at home (300+ on Saturdays) but Hitchin don't actually seem to take too many away themselves, judging by the HvA for the teams they've played...

Mind you, looks like short commons for us on the crowds this season. The only teams regularly getting league gates of 200+ at home are Bridgwater & Totton and it looks like they're bringing more away than most, we've played the first (152, our biggest league gate so far) so unless we break 200 when Totton visit on Dec 5th we're not going to see many outside cups... We're missing those local derbies!

So, would people rather we were playing indifferently but winning, as now, or playing nicer football but drawing, like earlier last month...? If the worst we do is lucky 1-goal wins it'll still make for a good season, I suppose.

Fuzzy have you been at the home brew again!? Didnt mention Sluff! And i didnt say anything about a poor first half just the lack of a killer touch infront of goal. If we had that it'd of been a walk in the park first half and second half AFC Hayes wouldnt of had anything to fight to defend.

Keep seeing Fagan's strike in my head whilst at work. People are even asking me why i am i smiling! Is it that rare?!

Woody your opening statement was, and I quote, "both teams were p!$$ poor" now to me taht sounds like you didn't think Windsor were too good? Not my home brew talking I'm sure?!?!?

No you didn't mentionSluff, "Directly!!"

And I will take "boring" wins over "exciting" draws any day, although the excitement of Fagan's goal was enough, I keep smiling about it at work as well he he!!!

Aside from Fuzzy v Woody and the "didhesaygate" scandal I think it's clear to see that we just need some preventative maintenance...lets do a little bit of work before we develop any problems.

Playing not to your best and still winning is a good habit. Playing not to your best and losing becomes a bad habit.

Bad habits are a lot harder to shake.

I would suggest a couple of new faces might liven us up a bit, but we seem as attractive to prospective players as the Dedworth Dog after ten pints of Strongbow with a broken zip on his trousers.

Still, 34 more league wins and we'll win this division.

Let’s put things into some sort of perspective, we're 3rd in the table and still undefeated in the league and as most people have noted haven’t hit top form yet.

It’s reassuring to know that we can play bad and still win games; can you imagine that happening a few seasons back?? I'd be more concerned if we were playing well and still losing that’s for sure. The players certainly seem to have that "win at all costs" mentality, even when things aren’t going to plan they still believe that they will somehow get something from the game.

Compare the current set of players attitudes to that of the players who got relegated from the Ryman Premier, we didn't play bad every week that season in fact some weeks we looked a pretty decent side but you always got the impression the players never believed they would win, they always looked like they knew something would go wrong at any minute.

Skill wise the current squad probably isn't that much better on paper than the team that got relegated (look how many have gone on to have good pro careers!), however the current squad have the right attitude a good work ethic and are well managed.

Lets just all enjoy the ride; good things are happening at the moment, it feels like we could be on the crest of a wave....and I shouldn't down cans of red bull after drinking a double expresso!

Doris, I don't think the club is '...not attractive to players' as you put it rather more that the type of player Scotty is looking for is more likely to decline an offer from us because he's a settled squad player where he already is. Our current squad has learnt to see the 'bigger picture' ie you will get games as and when but you must be prepared to wait for your chance and be part of a happy, loyal, winning group of players. What he will not do is bring in a name that may be great on the pitch but is detrimental to that 'feelgood factor' that currently exists within the squad we've got. That team spirit and will to win was certainly in evidence last night as they fought through to the final whistle without ever giving up and sometimes that will count for more than pure skill or talent.

Last night i thought one or two Windsor fans were biting too easily at the gobby bloke behind the goal. Perhaps in the future we should adopt what they do with away fans in Poland and put fans in a cage!?

I thought the our turnout was good even though it is 15 miles or so. The Hitchin fans were having a go because i think some were predicting 100plus i mean hitchin isn't exactly that far.

50-60 is good for this level though. :cheesy (2):

It was me who said that both teams were p$ss poor, thanks woody for not grassing me up. :signthankspin:
