Who Has impressed so far this year?

Recommended Posts

What teams if any have impressed you so far this year?

What players stand out and who do you think could step up a level or 2?

Who have been the biggest let downs so far?

For me the team that has impressed in the ESL are Barking, much better than last

year, Takely are still strong and Bethnal Green will give anyone a game.

Players so far are Clapton Goalie, Gilham at Bowers, Galsworthy at Takely and

most of Stansteds team.

Let downs Witham

However without doubt best team played this season Royston in FA Cup.

Look forward to hearing what everyone else thinks andseeing the rest of the teams as and when we play them.

Stansted have impressed me this year as have Bethnal Green

Gillam of Bowers could and should be playing at a higher level as should Wes Bocking of basildon united

Let Downs it is a bit early for that but would have to agree with never been that I expected more from Witham

Who's in goal at Clapton? Anyone know?

Chairmans son about 18 fantastic shot stopper, if it werent for him we would have had 5 or 6

Went over to Bowers the other night and have been impressed with their set up and look like they are trying to play football in the right way.

There are a few players that have impressed in the several games I have come to watch, Sean Thomas of Barkingside, Chris Grove of Takeley & Joe May from Eton Manor all look like players who could easiy make the jump up. Jon Wheatstone of S Manor also could be a force in the higher league if given the opportunity.

Been disappointed with Enfield, with 3 defeats already & of course Witham.

Bit disappointed with Eton Manor. With the attacking talent they have - Joe May has been mentioned - I thought they'd have done better. Seen them a few times and they obviously had issues at the back, Neil Barratt is their best centre half and he was missing for the first 6 games or so and they leaked goals like a sive. Since he came back I'm told they've been much better but I've only seen them once since and they played a team of kids with Barratt up front at Burnham and conceeded 7!!Still think they'll improve and finish top half.

Seen Basildon twice - think they look really good - never seen this boy Bocking before but he's been the best player I've seen in the ESL so far this season.

Stansted are maturing and look half decent, still think they're susceptible to the long ball though. Burnham looked really good against the Manor but as I said it wasn't a strong Manor side.

Enfield I've seen twice and I can't imagine them finishing top 4 unless they improve massively, and Takeley aren't as strong as last season.

Mauritius will stay play some nice football but lose most games and Barkingside are struggling.

That's everyone I've seen so far. BGU are the ones I need to have a look at at some point. If I'd realised they played last night I might have gone over.

Craig Gilham is probably the best player in the league, I asked him why he doesn't play higher, and he said he likes playing at Bowers!

I've been very impressed with Bowers both times this season, against Hullbridge they totally bossed the game, but couldn't finish them off then nearly threw it away in the last few minutes. Against Eton Manor on Saturday they were class, they had so many chances, they wasted at least 6 good chances, and still scored 3!

With young Fentiman (sp?), Carr and Gilham up top they will be a match for anyone in the league.

I have seen Bas Utd,Sawbo,Barkingside,Stansted,Bethnal Green,Southend Manor,Bowers,Clapton,Barking, and apart Tiptree in the first few games i can't see a team that caught my eyes. They are all the same and may be Bethnal and Bowers look slightly stronger but nothing major. It's really a funny league this year and anyone that goes on a good run can win it.To see Enfield,Bowers,Witham,Takeley,S.Manor,Eton Manor struggling and Sawbo,Bas and Stansted in the top 4 it really gives everyone a chance. The only ones that are consistent at the mo are Burnham Ramblers but i'll wait till Christmas to see if they can mantain the good start.Actually i'll go as far as to say that is there for everyone to win it! :coffee (2):

i play there with him and he is a raw talent! would be intresting to see what he would do. We have a great bunch of lads there who all love playing with each other and for the management so it would have to be a very good offer to tempt him to leave
