Hitchin v Slough town

Goals came from Martin (I think he got the final touch) and defintely Hibbert. Not sure where Fenton came from!!

As for the performance, well i'm hugely disappointed. After Saturday I thought we'd go out all-guns blazing and put on a decent show, but after the first 25 minutes when we were good we offered very little. How we managed to make it 2-2 i'll never know as Hitchin were in full control.

For me I think without the normal back four we look shakey. At times tonight we struggled to put together two successive passes. Much will probably be made of Martin's miss in the end, and it was a sitter but we've all missed them.

I also thought there was a lack of pace and energy in the side tonight something that Steve Sinclair and Tyron Sealy offer and we very much miss, which is why i'm suprised Mo was not given a half at least.

Many people said that they thought Hitchin were the best team we played. I thought they were organised, solid but workmanlike. More impressed with Burnham and Chesham who I have seen this season, but they will be up there come the end of the season.

And have to laugh at the Hitchin forum. We probably had about 50-65 away tonight on a cold Tuesday night thats an hours plus drive which they are having a dig about. I very much doubt they would take much more than that! Also heard more home noise at Leyton! Having said that we were never going to take 70-100 on a Tuesday night game that far away as posted on their forum - a Saturday yes, not on a tuesday

hey thats as many supporters most teams at this level get total on a saturday let alone on a tuesday, still they have to come to us yet lets see how they do.

Yes Chris, they seem to be a funny lot - making a big deal out of us being "title favourites" before the game (first I've heard of it) and then mocking an away following of around 50 on a Tuesday night with the M25 to contend with. Let's face it, we've done much better but I very much doubt they'd have brought that many to HP.

As for the game, I'm disappointed too as, like Saturday, we only really started playing when the game looked beyond us. This time, we showed great character to get back into the game and equalise when it really didn't look likely, but overall we got what we deserved when they went back ahead minutes later.

I would argue Hitchin are one of the better sides in the league, but with a full team we might well have done better tonight. We need to get our wide players back soon! Hibbert looks like he could be a useful acquisition to beef up the midfield as we do look lightweight on occasions.

The team showed good spirit in fighting back from 2 goals down, but in truth the scoreline flattered us, as in most things we were second best to them. One big difference between the sides was the forwards. Theirs scored 3 good goals from open play, and ours just cannot do that at present. Lets hope it changes.

we probably got what we deserved in terms of outcome but having come from 2-0 down it was bitterly disappointing to then almost immediately concede again.

too much hesitation when we get the ball near the opponents goal again. this seems a problem away from home especially for us but we are scoring so its not too much of a problem just need to get a goal early or when the game isn't already nearly lost when playing the better sides.

Hitchin didn't seem that great defensively but the pace in their team caused us huge amounts of problems and we couldn't cope at all

how they can call us league title favorites i do not know. not sure anyone has claimed that before

Have to say ..Hitchin are one the best we have played this season , fair result.... but like most

we clawed our way back into the game only to let it go again...shame...

and what a miss ...by Simon...(next time please !)...

(Hitchin supporters) , how many will they be for the return fixture ? We will see if their will bring their tandem

plus a school bus for the chav's that were they last night ..

To be honest Slough proberly apart from Chesham have a good away support in this league...the other's are no way near..

come on Rebels..we need to break the losing streak....

Very dissapointed in both losing after fighting back to 2-2, and in the "best home fans in the league".

Less than 300 with a good contingent of us travellers. Even Yeovil Steve came to watch, and didn't get home until around 01:30.

The loudest they got was when a bunch of kids tried to take the mick out of our lot behind the goal in the first half.

However, I agree that Hitchin were one of the best teams we've met so far in the league, and they will def be up in the mix at the end of the season.

We got caught on the break for most of the goals, and seemed to still be thinking about getting back to 2-2 when they got the winner.

I thought Leon Hibbert fitted into the team well, and will be a good team member while he is with us. Also Dean had a better game, and Simon Martin had a good chance at the end to make it 3-3.

One positive was the mentality of the players on the fight back. we just need to have that for the 90 minutes.

For info, I have finished editing the match photos and they are currently being uploaded. They should be ready for viewing tonight if my broadband is not too slow during the day.

We were beaten by the better team on the night and IMO the best team we've played this season. They had quick players all over the park and we found it very difficult to deal with it, especially at the back.

Pretty much sums up our forward power last night when their keeper has'nt had a shot to save culminating with the miss of the season so far from Simon Martin.

I think that it's no coincidence that our top two scorers at the moment are a centre back and a midfielder. Most teams that are successful have one or two forwards that bang in 20/30 plus goals in a season and at the moment I don't think we have that.

To end on a positive, although second best last night, we dug deep and showed a lot of character to come back from 2 down and should have snatched a draw at the end.
