Tokynton win

Recommended Posts

Was the new Manager in the hot seat for Saturdays 2-1 win at Amersham, not an easy place to get a result so well done.

As a club they get ridiculed on here now and again due to a certain clown, so him aside, thought it was worth a pat on the back.

Rhodesy asked me to post this match report from the game.....

Saturday 10 October 2009

Spartan South Midlands League Division 1

Amersham Town 1 Tokyngton Manor 2

New boss Shayne Chandler introduced two debutantes to the starting line up at leafy Amersham and Manor started well with a number of early forays into the opposing half of the field.

Disaster struck however on just ten minutes when, against the run of play, the home side went ahead following a speculative cross and the ball appeared to creep under debutante keeper Chris Hunter's body.

Manor should have equalised immediately afterwards when man mountain Melford Simpson shot wide when presented with a good chance in front of goal from a rebound. Amersham then shot just over the bar with the game very much end of end.

Manor continued to press the home side back into their own half without creating any clear cut opportunities and Amersham looked slightly the more dangerous on the occasions they went forward.

Manor equalised just before the interval on 44 minutes following some excellent work down the right by the hard working Gino Sufi and his precision cross found the unmarked Zane Gangadeen who fired into the roof of the net from eight yards out.

The second period started slowly with chances few and far between, new recruit Gary Currell was introduced and entered the fray for his bow for the Club for Marcus Denton.

The lively Gangadeen was causing the hosts huge problems down the right with some old fashioned wing play which was a refreshing throwback to the 60's and 70's era. Anthony Bayele then entered the fray for the injured Sufi who had been instrumental in the heart of Manor's attack all afternoon.

Shortly after Sufi's departure Manor scored what was to be the winning goal on 78 minutes when substitute Currell cleverly found the net from an acute angle on the left, Manor arguably deserved the lead however Amersham almost equalised when a deep corner caught the defence out and the ball was headed against the outside of a post.

Manor introduced Stefan Bignal for Gangadeen for the final minutes and the clock ran down with the home side posing no further threat in what was an encouraging bow for the new Manager.

Manor entertain Ampthill Town on Saturday in a league fixture at Reynolds Field, kick off 3.00.

Manor Team: Hunter, Williams, Ellis, Denton, Tomlinson, P Owen, Gangadeen, Johnson, G Sufi, Simpson, Farrell.

Subs: Bignal, Bayele, Currell, Clough

Just been having a chin wag with Rhodes on Facebook. He asked me not to repeat what we discussed to anyone associated with this forum.......so I have decided to post it here for all to see:-

Clifford

Tokyngton won't lose again this season, they have a whole new team from the Southern League but don't mention it on the Forum

It will be like Royston two seasons ago when you were in the running, it's a poor league this season and Bedford Town can't go up anyway

22:25Jon

22:31Clifford

Reserve players from Beaconsfield so possible Southern League players, more likely Suburban League players who have been playing in the same division as Chalfont reserves and the like. Will find the SSML Div1 a different proposition but should do well, cant see them not losing another game though.

Beaconsfield are looking for a new reserve manager so does this mean that the new TM manager is the old Beaconsfield manager?

I would have said that the forum is exactly how it should be; people only "speaking" when they have something to say rather than when they have to defend themselves against that prat's often unfounded allegations of this that or the other (apart from the recent WGC/Hatfield exchange of abuse which, in any case, would have happened with or without clip Rods on board).

whatever else you say about Rhodes hes a proper non league person and he knows his stuff, there wouldnt be any non league football without people like me and rhodes, we arent involved to make a name for ourselves or to settle old scores, we do it for the love of the game.
