Gate announce new board

Margate Football club is delighted to announce the appointment of three new directors.

The appointment of Mr. Cliff Egan, Mr. Richard Piper and Mr. Gordon Wallis was ratified at a meeting of the board of directors held at Hartsdown Park today at 11am. Cliff, Richard and Gordon will join Colin Page and Keith Piper as part of a new five man board.

The main item on the new board’s agenda will be the selection and appointment of a first team manager. It was agreed to meet with those applications who have already contacted the club about the post, before placing a formal advertisement.

To allow the club’s supporters to meet the new board, we are proposing to hold a question and answer session on Thursday 22nd October at The Hartsdown. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start

I think these are very good appointments. For those of you who are new to the club, Cliff Egan was the very successful commercial manager at the club in the pre Chris Kinnear era and beyond. He then went to Stoke City as commercial manager and so, hopefully, he will be filling a vital gap that the club have been needing to fill for some time. I think he is also involved in the Superdraw which the club are involved in.

Richard was once the match announcer in that old Radio Hut (now runs the club shop,or used to anyway). One of the Rockin Royals no less & I believe an ex Chairman too. Open to correction on those. Gordon we all know from seasons gone by.

Fantastic news. The best news MFC has had in years.

As Margateshot says, Cliff was instrumental in setting up the Superdraw last season, and has worked tirelessly to drive it to where it is now, bringing in a sizable income for the club.

Onwards and upwards.
