Early Season Predictions

Recommended Posts

Know it's only October but as most forums on here seem to distract away from footbal for one reason or another (Rhodes) how about early season predictions, bit of fun and at the end of the season see who would take the bookies to the cleaners had they had a flutter.

Chalfont will be in the top 3 along with Heath and Aylesbury...

Dunstable, Brox and Royston battle for 4th.

Aylesbury must win there games in hand though......

Thats the hard part for Aylesbury, catching up on all their games in hand and winning them. It was the undoing of Chalfont last season and nearly did for Bigg Town as well.

A bit predictable but Aylesbury should win the league (although as mentioned their games in hand maybe their undoing)....If Aylesbury don't win it Chalfont St Peter will. Langford have got going after a poor start and will be up in the top 4/5 at the end of the season. Seems to be a very good and exciting race this season. Still early days of course but with only 8 points seperating Broxbourne to Colney the title can be anyone's. Will it go down to goal difference again??

SSML Division 1 final top 3

Hadley's postion mirrors that of Aylesbury in the Premier with games in hand on all the top teams. It's between New Bradwell St Peter and Holmer Green in my book. Hadley are good but to maintain that sort of form in their first season at this level will be difficult . Although Bedford reserves record of over 3 goals per game is very impressive.

SSML Division 2 final top 3

I've never seen a Division Two match so can't claim to be an expert...Berkhamsted will run away with the championship in my opinion... Kent Athletic will definatly not win the league.

SSML Challenge Trophy winners

Difficult... Wouldn't it be nice to see Berko have a cup run to represent Division Two..their game versus Brimsdown next tuesday looks a good one. I'll go for Hatfield Town or Biggleswade United (although their home tie versus Bedford who are cup sepcialists this season looks difficult too) to lift the trophy....

SSML Premier Division Cup winners

Impossible to call but i'd like Kingsbury London to win a cup this season.... Cata and Zarchenko up front are a good pairing and they shouldn't be lurking near the bottom of the league...

SSML Division 1 Cup winners

Hoddesdon Town or Hadley

SSML Division 2 Cup winners

Winner of Aston Clinton V Padbury or Berko to do the double!!!

Scottie, I must apologise at not including Dunstable Town in my predictions....they'll be up the top of the league too... When are Aylesbury going to exit the FA Cup then.....3rd round....4th round...quarter final???? they may have the league sown up by then. On a serious note Wealdstone are a top side and will be very hard to beat..

No the hard part for Aylesbury will be keeping the squad together for the entire season.

I've already heard that two have already done deals with clubs once New Aylesbury Vale exit the FA Cup.

You seem to be more informed than the mere supporter, please tell me more Scottie.

Unable to find New Aylesbury Vale on the FA Cup fixtures, did you mean Aylesbury FC?

Couldn't make it to the Berko Aston Clinton game on Saturday but from what I hear, if you can deal with the long ball that Berko play throughout, you should be ok. So can't see Berko walking away with it like you can. I couldn't put money on it at all, any one from Pitstone, Aston, Berko, Bucks and Padbury. All these teams will have a bad patch throughout the season, however I did hear that Berko are paying their players which will always sway towards them winning the league as they will attract better players.

I thought that might get a bite!!

I am quite happy for everyone to forget about us at the moment. More than content with keeping up with the top 2 or 3 and then maybe make a push at the death. Just being out of the Southern League and having to deal with their egocentrical officials is a pleasure!!

But still no information on the so called two players signing for other clubs. And as for the egocentrical officials of the southern league, if you refer to the people who expect rules to be kept such as not playing ringers, every club gets what they deserve, dont you think?

Naming and shaming isn't my style. Just pointing out that certain players have a history of collecting clubs and leopards do not change their spots.

As for the southern league I was not referring to our point deduction at all, as we deserved that. I was referring to the "we are big time" attitude it;s officials still have despite it not being the force in non-league it once was after the formation of the conference.

  • 2 weeks later...

Any changes to the predictions, only 7 prem sides left in Challenge Trophy compared to 8 from Division 1, and one from Division 2.

Now Aylesbury are out of FA Cup maybe they can concentrate on other matters, Division 1, Hadley drew at weekend with both Bedford Town Reserves and New Bradwell going down, Tokynton, 3 wins from 3, maybe there is some truth in what Rhodes says :511:

i think div 2 side aston have a very good chance in the challenge trophy.............they passed the life out of hillingdon and have welwyn garden city in the next round who they beat in pre season!

They face padbury in the next round of the division 2 cup......winner of that should win it full stop.

Nice to see tokynton getting it together.....

Brache Sparta, no wins all season but through to Q/F's of Division 1 Cup after beaing Amersham on penalties, maybe not but AFC Dunstable now seem dark horses after their 7-0 triumph over Stony Stratford, guess it's all down to how the draw comes out.

And Aston Clinton in the Challenge Trophy, wont be an easy game for WGC despite the two division gap.
