Looking at the way this came out, why such a strong "he's going" followed by a frantic "no he's not"? Misinterpretation, or perhaps talks were going on but got revealed too early or hit some hitch?

Anyway, if he definitely isn't going then hopefully this won't be unsettling. Just smoke without fire, that surely happens enough in non-league

"I've spoken to the chairman and registered my interest," said Scott, a former Chairboys legend. "That's as far as it's gone. But I still maintain they've got somebody as their No.1 target. Personally, I expect in the next 24-48 hours to hear something.

Good to see the local paper stirring the proverbial up without any real facts to base it on. But it shows what a positive influence and generally respected guy Scotty is as no fans have had anything negative to say about him and everyone is pleased he is staying.

As for the Maidenhead paper, preforming about as well as their football team by all accounts!!!

Their whole story seemed to revolve around some punter on the unofficial Wycombe forum posting an unconfirmed sighting of Scott at Adams Park and the fact his mobile was turned off at the same time. Hardly cutting edge investigative journalism.
