Scotty 9-1 to be new Wycombe boss

Looking at the way this came out, why such a strong "he's going" followed by a frantic "no he's not"? Misinterpretation, or perhaps talks were going on but got revealed too early or hit some hitch?

Anyway, if he definitely isn't going then hopefully this won't be unsettling. Just smoke without fire, that surely happens enough in non-league :)

So, the latest from the "Maidenhead Complete Guesser"...

"I've spoken to the chairman and registered my interest," said Scott, a former Chairboys legend. "That's as far as it's gone. But I still maintain they've got somebody as their No.1 target. Personally, I expect in the next 24-48 hours to hear something.

A few other quotes of interest:

Following his application for the job, Scott said: "The response from the chairman at Wycombe was 'thank you very much'. He said 'we've had a lot of people interested in the job and when we make our decision you'll hear'.

"I expect an anouncement today (Tuesday) or tomorrow. Thursday at the latest."

"From a Windsor & Eton Football Club point of view, to be linked with that job is fantastic.

"The euphoria and all the talk of being third favourite for the job shows that Windsor is moving in the right direction.

"And if I don't become manager of Wycombe then my job is to get Windsor out of this league."

Good to see the local paper stirring the proverbial up without any real facts to base it on. But it shows what a positive influence and generally respected guy Scotty is as no fans have had anything negative to say about him and everyone is pleased he is staying.

As for the Maidenhead paper, preforming about as well as their football team by all accounts!!!

You mean the team who are currently 10th in the conference south and have scored nine goals in the last two matches and conceded none! All despite having little budget and hardly any players from last year!!!

I wouldn't trust the Maidenhead Advertiser with any form of general journalism let alone breaking news, they seem incapable of it.

Most of what the cover in terms of Slough is copy & pasted directly off our site without our permission.
