Burnham won 3.0 in the end, but the first goal did not come till the 72nd minute. Full details above.

Smallsy's goal kicks were funny with 8 going out for a throw in. Greacian 2000 playing at number 3. ha ha.

Smallsy was a good sport.

"You cheat your way to top of the league" ha ha (song in the 2nd half)

I have just read the very interesting match report from the Witham 0 - 3 Burnham Ramblers fixture and couldnt believe what I was reading. I was in attendence at the game today and thought Burnham totally deserved the victory and outclassed their opposition.

The keeper never had a save to make, the back four looked solid and rarely in any bother and the front two were a constant threat. Great goal from the Burnham sub to make it 2-0 with a 35 yd lob.

Burnham are top of the league and their performance today merited it. Well done Burnham.

I think it is going to be a very long season for Witham.

Venus, i did acknowledge Smallsy had nothing to do, just felt 3.0 was not a fair reflection of the game, maybe 1.0. You could tell by the way the Burnham players celebrated that first goal they were relieved to finally break up down, it was not as comfortable as the scoreline suggests. Agree it will be a tough season for Witham as we have only picked up points against the tradional weaker sides (with all due respects) Clapton, Mauritius, Apsa and got battered by another usual struggler Stansted. Hullbridge on Tuesday 27th at Lower Road will show where we are in the league a defeat means bottom 5 realistically a win maybe midtable. 8 home defeats don't expect us to be challenging this season.

The quicker you learn that, in this league especially this year, there are no weak sides the better will be for your lot at Witham.Apart Tiptree, which unfortunately might not be there next year, all the other sides are capable of taking points off each other.Don't be surprised about any results every week because it's all on the day and there isn't a side that stands above the rest, they are all the same.I'm sure our Burnham friends are aware of that and are under no illusions...when you see teams like Clapton,Mauritius and Apsa winning away from home then you have to realize that there are not easy games.WWelcome to the ESL or i should say Hell!! :490:

If Romford's defending on Saturday is anything to go by then Coup would be better served worrying about his own side than worrying about Enfield.... I thought having seen them in the ESL last season that Romford would be fine this year, but they seem to have lost a bit of steel from the side and tried to replace it with a bit more flair..... which hasn't worked.

Last season i saw Romford play twice once at their place and once at Southend Manor where they got smashed 4.1 and a win would of guaranteed them the title, i was not impressed with them on that day and was concerned about Southend Manor as a serious title contender for this season, they always seem to be up there.

Coach, having watched a bit of ESL over the years as a neutral, never thought it was going to be easy, but then equally i didn't expect to be at the end of October seeing us lose 8 times at home. I never had us as champions, pre season had Enfield & Tiptree fighting for the title, with us, Southend Manor, Burnham, Bowers & Pitsea contending the top 6. I had Takeley as one season wonders and had them outside the top 6. With Bethnal coming next as a surprise package. I did feel relegation from the ryman could be a good thing in that get a few wins build a bit of support and get confidence back in the club. Unfortunately it has not happened. Thanks for the welcome. Mark.

Worse is that you are one of the clubs that can afford to pay expenses which should give you a bit of advantadge in attracting better players to your club.Questions should be asked...

I have just realized i put 8 defeats by the end of October, we are at home in the Gordon [****!!****] Trophy to Mauritius and then home to Takeley in the league before the end of Ocober, it could be more.

Your management says that teams coming to SPA road, treat their game like a Cup final.I don't agree mate considering the poor run of form is stretching back from last year.Hussey is a good keeper, still he couldn't prevent conceding another 3 goals at home. You should call a witch or somebody like that..

give WA WTFC his due...........not once has he come on here after a defeat berating the opposition, ref or linos, and using them as an excuse for losing

Agreed :coffee (2):

I was inferring to it being rather a shock result. We have ten plus of last season's squad on show and yes, unless you pay a bob or two, a la Brentwood and Concord, it will be a struggle, which we were all pragmatic about.

Yes we did get smashed - 3-1 actually, but Manor more than deserved their win. And no, we would not have won the League that day, but over 30 games we were obviously the best in the league. Regardless or not as to whether it was the strongest ESL in recent years (probably not), we must deserve some kudos for only losing one League game all season.

Still we will struggle on and 20th place and the new ground will make it a successful season in my eyes.
