slough game today

Just one additional thing to say Simon Sweeney easily our best player today. Mr Reliable throughout the season so far and brilliant today I thought. Plus Mo Sharif excellent, for someone to step out of the U18's and play that well against higher opposition is a credit to the player and Tony Thompson.

Plus - looks like a pen to me?

That was a really good match to watch, and it was definately a penalty at the end, the defender took Simon'a leg from behind the knee (photo evidence). With perfoemances like that, I'm sure we will soon make it back to where we were in the league before we stopped playing league games.

Well done to the players and staff who got us this far in the FA Cup.

the players didn't roll over and die even at 3-0 and for that were fully worthy of the applause at full time. considering we had a few out and then lost 2 to injury during the match we were short of obvious first teamers by the end but both Mo Sharif and Sam Bateman stepped up and didn't look completely out of place. apparently Sam had blurred vision for the last 15 minutes as well so far play to those 2 youngsters

a little bit confusing as to why our right back played centre back and a centre back at right back but Sweeney like most of this season was awesome defensively

with the spirited comeback i do not think we should be too affected by this loss mentally. once the injuries are cleared up i think we could easily hit better form than at any point this season so far

I have to say, I'm pretty gutted we're out of the Cup. Not everyone seems to be, but I really thought this would be another First Round Proper jobbie. Eastbourne at home, who knows - with our best team out, we'd have given them a game.

It's a shame we put ourselves in the position of being 3-0 down with some poor defending, and I agree with Steve Bateman's comments in the Observer online. I went to Tooting fully expecting us to do well and get a replay or maybe sneak a win. We should really have scored when we were well on top in the first half, which would have changed the game as they then went 2-0 up very quickly with a couple of well-taken half-chances. I thought we showed them a bit too much respect, particularly their front two. When we were all over them in the final 15 minutes, they were shaky at the back and there for the taking.

But then, going to Tooting made me realise what we're missing. Nice ground, and some opposition fans at the other end of it. Just what we want when we're back in Slough, but in the meantime it would be nice to go to places like Imperial Fields on a more regular basis - which is why we must now push on and try to get promotion to the Southern/Ryman Premier. With a bit of luck and everyone fit, it's achievable.

Agree with everything there Matt, and the odd thing now is that at the start of the season a lot of the views was to have a mid-table finish to build on after the woeful last 3 years, a seen to be improvment.

Now I think a lot of people, myself included, will be unhappy if we finish mid-table. Top 5 is very achievable.
