Come on guys,I dont think many were REALLY expecting a result today. Full of hope, yes.

It will not surprise too many people to have lost this one if truth be told.

Its the manner of the defeat I'm concerned with, whatever that manner of defeat was.

But at least they are in the conference (conference south at worst next season)

9 points from 16 games, and I have been listening to them this afternoon and they are a complete train wreck

Snap Cookie, losing away to the team in 2nd is no shame, but the fact it's 3-0 just makes it a shame really, hopefully we can rob a late goal.

will reserve judgement till we get a full report from people who went to canvey, I might even be brave enough to listen to almost live when it is posted

Was going to say Chris, Sky Sports had the score as 2-0 and so did Non-league live, that scoreline does make it slightly better. Sounds like it was two silly mistakes that cost us (The freekick and the penalty)

2 - 0 sounds so much better, but still worried about how badly we were out played. Admittedly they were 2nd before the start today, but if we are being given the run around this badly, I cant see play offs as being a realistic target. I would still settle for safe mid table finish.

We were dire today. Created nothing going forward, had our one and only shot on target in the 91st minute: a weak effort from Boreau. New keeper was appalling - really hope he's only here temporarily. Personally think he was at fault for the first goal. We could all see from where we were standing that he didn't have his side of the goal covered, and that's where the free kick was duly despatched to. Also looked very flappy on crosses.

Personally thought it was a debatable penalty and there is no way the referee could have seen the supposed handball from where he was standing: he was behind a crowd of players! Too many players just didn't perform today - most of them, in fact. Admittedly, we were slightly better in the second half, but I don't think we would have scored if we played 'til midnight.

Canvey weren't a great team: they mainly bullied us off the ball and are certainly a physical team. That is in no way a criticism of them: it's easy to see why they don't concede many, and think they will win a lot of games through the odd-goal by using those exact tactics. We do need to 'wise-up' in that department.

For anyone who thinks that we will finish anywhere other than the bottom 8 or so this year, well, sorry, but you are wrong. We are in for another relegation battle. And I think today was the day Nev proved he is not the man to manage us. No disrespect to the bloke, but he looked rather clueless when we were two down.

Some fair comments there, although I don't agree about the goalie. It was a top free kick and I don't think any keeper in our league would have stopped it. Penalty incident: yes, a bit harsh, but the ref had failed to give a sure-fire penalty to them a couple of minutes earlier, and it was a case of making amends for his error.

Sorry to go on, but it seems to me that playing 3-5-2 we are not man-marking. Time and again there was a player free in the box, and nobody knowing who was meant to be marking him. At least with 4-4-2 you know who you are meant to be on, and I don't think these players have played together enough to cope with this system.

The midfield (including wingers Lacey/Robinson) were spending most of the time in their own box defending, and when we got the ball there was a huge gap between them and the front two. Consequently we had to either punt the ball upfield for their tall defenders to deal with easily, or try to hold the ball up and give them plenty of time to get back and regroup. Not only that, but when the wide players did get up the field we were being caught on the counter attack with their wide men getting in behind us.

Canvey were pretty good really. They have height in defence especially, and that's something we couldn't counter. Also you could see how they had played together long enough to feel comfortable together, unlike us. For example, comedy moment, Keister takes a free kick shouting a player's name. The player doesn't have a clue where he is going to put it, and the ball ends up going straight to the opposition, who very nearly score from the move.

Some other comments: I don't know what has happened to Wilson, but he was so good when he started with us. He didn't have a shot today, or hardly a pass to his own side. Stubbs: top quality, made things happen, and I would like to see him start if he is going to stay with us, because we do need an attacking midfielder. Lewis: not a team player really, but did some great work today, and I would say our best player overall. Blackman gives up the chase too often, claiming a foul. Just get on with it man, and work on your fitness too.

When Harwood is back I would play him central defence with either Lewis or Young. Either side of them we should have Lacey and possibly Robinson, although he needs to convince me of his defensive tackling. Both of these offer the long throw option. No, I take that back: Lacey and Haverson.

Forward-wise I am concerned that Blackman might just be passing the time and picking up his wages, in which case we need a big fella late 20s/early 30s with a proven record who is still hungry for goals, plus a real skilful ball player who knows where the net is, like Sam Cliff in a couple of years' time. Oh for the likes of a Collins/Braithwaite pairing. I do not think that speedy little guys are the answer.

Thoughts on the manager: well he has not done too badly so far, but as stated above did not seem to have a plan B today. I think Nev should be given a chance, but if he cannot turn things round by Xmas let's try to attract someone with a proven record at our level of football.

think Nev was very open and honest with his interview. Like the way he says players can shape up and get Margate up to the top of the table or bugger off, dont think he will accept any slackers. Just cant see too many of the positives he saw from the match reports. Does sound worrying when he says aren't right in the club though.

Can someone who was there tell me.Was Keister sweeping up today or playing in a flat back line?. Makes a difference i.m.o.

Keister is best mopping up at the back, moreso & especially away from home (although when Harwood returns I believe Keister will do good in midfield with sweeping up as an alternative) .

Without Harwood I was expecting Keister to be just behind the back line & behind Ben Lewis today. Was that not the case today? In the one game where Keister DID play sweeper we did particularly well, and won, away at Hendon.

Didn't think Keister had one of his better games yesterday, seemed to give the ball away too often.

A starting place for Stubbsy is an absolute must, i can see no reason for including Wilson in the team at present, his passing, tackling and general awareness of team-mates are at an all time low as they've been all season.

Don't agree with the comments about Blackman(except maybe the diving) he just needs the support of an experienced frontman whos willing to work hard at building a partnership, not an over weight has-been or a boy.

As said above Big Nev seems to lack any plan b and i don't think he's the man to take us forward, also seems to have a problem with fan/manager relations and needs to realise that its not beneath him to speak to us!

After a trip to Canvey i think we can all appreciate the clubhouse facilities at Hartsdown a little more :249:

I was never Stubbs greatest fan, and frankly questioned his ability at this level.

Commtment and work rate first class though-maybe that will lead to others giving just 10% more energy aswell

That given, i am wondering whether this could be a ' masterstroke'.

I feel we have been crying out for another CENTRAL midfielder to play alongside wilson-and have wondered whether wilsons downturn in form is simply because he has been asked to do too much.

Stubbs can do a great job 'protecting' and assisting wilson -giving wilson more space and freedom-so it could work really well .

I also hope DS can himself push on-if he can get his passing a bit more accurate, then that will complement his 'harrowing game 'and make him well worth his place-so i wish him well.DS (via his dad) also said he can score more-we could do with that part coming to fruition aswell.

Thus-on balance and consideration-a good move and look forward to seeing a central midfiled of wilson, stubbs and Kesiter so we reallt control the game from midfield.

Would be good to see Ronks posting again

Nev interview pretty frank. Club not right at the moment interesting!!!

As you say-good honest interview.

I do not think at any stage though he eirther said or indeed implied that 'things were not right at the club'.

Did he not say-things are 'going on that need sorting ' ?(and is'nt there an announcement next week anyway)

World of difference between -'things not right' and 'things going on'
