Hi

I went to the friendly game versus Red Star Belgrade feb 81 ( sunday ) and recently bought the programme from ebay , as a result I also printed out the match report from the slough observer . As a result can someone answer the following questions please

I always thought that Red Star worn chelsea's away shirt for this match but the photo has them wearing stripes red and white , so was it windsor wearing chelsea's kit ? this maybe because windsor played the day before

Also in the report ' Goal keeper Kevin Mitchell was man of the match and made a number of tremendous saves from the red star forwards , the best of them shown on the television that night in the first news bulletin after match of the day ' does anyone have footage of this match ?

the attendance 1,611

bit more background to this game , red star belgrade were the champions of then yugoslavia . they had 8 internationals playing in the game against windsor just days after beating the then european champions nottingham forest 3-1 .

the game was organised by ex windsor player len keeble

I clearly remember Red Star wearing their normal red & white kit which was done out of respect for the then European Club Champions but for the life of me I can't remember what colours Windsor wore that day but someone will answer eventually. There was a video done of the game but I haven't got a clue who by or anyone who has a copy but hopefully [again] someone will see this and have a copy as I'd certainly like to see it again. A crowd of that size was a pretty regular occurence in those days as we hosted teams like Bournemouth, Torquay, etc, what we'd give for half of that every week now - Happy Days!

Wow, that was a blast from the past. I always remember the ground being practically full that day, but 'just' 1,611, thought there were more. All I really remember was a Chris Yates corner at the Town end and us very nearly scoring. If there is a video I would love to see that, what about a screening before a match at Stag Meadow, start it at 11.00 or 12.00, might get a few extra in the bar to reminisce the day Windsor competed with the European champions?!?!
